Intended use
The surface-mounted PIR (Passive Infra-Red) motion detector monitors the area in front of the
sensor continuously. The device turns on connected lights automatically as soon as movement
is detected. If no other motion is detected within the monitoring area, lights are turned off after
a preset time delay. The lights remain on, however, if movements are still detected. The motion
detector is suited for energy-saving lighting of stairways, home entrances, basements, poorly
lit courtyards or other environments where automatic lighting is useful. Automated lighting is
recommended for working, ergonomic or safety reasons. The surface-mounted motion detector
is designed to switch household lighting on and off depending on the surroundings.
Use other than that described above can lead to damage to the product and may involve
additional risks such as, for example, short circuits, fire, electrical shocks etc. No part of the
product may be modified or reconfigured. Read the operating instructions carefully and keep
them for later reference. If you pass the product on to a third party, please hand over these
operating instructions as well.
The safety instructions should be observed without fail!

Explanation of symbols
The lightning symbol inside of a triangle is used when there is a potential risk of
personal injury, such as electric shock.
An exclamation mark in a triangle indicates important information in these operating
instructions which must be observed without fail.
The arrow symbol is used when specific tips and information on the operation are
provided.
This product has been CE-tested and meets the necessary European guidelines.

Selecting the mounting position - Installation instructions
Observe the following installation instructions for a satisfactory performance:
• The mounting height of the motion detector should be between 1.8 m and 2.5 m (6 ft and 8 ft)

Installation
Before installing the PIR motion detector, observe the directions provided in "Selecting the
mounting position - Installation instructions" and, if necessary, test the position prior to the
definite installation.
• Safe operation is no longer possible, if the product:
- has visible damage,
- no longer functions properly,
- has been stored under adverse ambient conditions for an extended period of
time or
- has been exposed to considerable strain during transport.
• Also observe the safety and operating instructions of any other devices that are
connected to this product.
• Make sure that the lights which are automatically turned on and off do not pose
any danger to, or impact on the environment or traffic.
• Never pour liquids on electrical devices, and never place any liquid-containing
objects (such as vases) on top of them or near them. You run the high risk of caus-
ing a fire or a fatal electric shock.
• Observe the regulations for IP44 protection.
• Do not wear any metallic or conductive jewellery such as chains, bracelets, rings,
etc. when working with power adapters or chargers. Never under any circum-
stances connect power adapters and chargers to humans or animals.
• Be extremely careful when dealing with mains voltage (230 V/AV). Contact with
live parts can result in a life-threatening electric shock!
• Maintenance, adjustment and repair work may be carried out only by an expert or
a specialised workshop.
• If in doubt about how to connect the device correctly, or should any questions arise
that are not answered in these operating instructions, please contact our technical
