A buckled or damaged wheel may cause uneven braking and therefore increase the risk of the rider
falling off.
. TYRES :
If your tyres are correctly infl ated, it is easy to ride effi ciently and safely. Check that they are infl ated
to the pressure shown on their sides.
The tyre must be correctly fi tted in its rim.
If the tyre is changed, check that the tyre beads fi t properly against the rim of the wheel.
If the inner tube is changed, check that it is not pinched between the tyre and the wheel rim.

Any defective tyre must be replaced immediately.
. CHAINS :
Examine them frequently in order to spot any faults and to check tensioning.
Routine replacement of the chain must be carried out by an approved mechanic for the bicycle.
. CRANKSET AND PEDALS :
The crankset must turn freely without any lateral play.
Check the play in the crank bearing. To do this, hold the crank near the pedal thread and try to move
it from side to side. If you notice any play, have it adjusted at a cycle dealership. Check the crank
(tightening) bolt regularly.
