Connection to a display unit
• Various video (HDMI, AV, YPbPr) and audio outputs (analogue, digital) are available for con-
necting to a display unit (monitor, TV).
• External data carriers (e.g. an additional USB2.0 hard disk or a USB stick) may be connected
to one of both of the USB connections. Apart from the USB ports on the rear, there is another
USB port available on the front under a cover.
• It is controlled using the IR remote control; the control buttons on the media player itself only
provide a few important functions.
Tips & Notes
• For further information, consult the manufacturer's extensive operating instructions in English.
The instructions are enclosed in a printed version or as a PDF file on a CD.
• Although the media player supports many video, audio and picture formats, it cannot be guar-
anteed that it will play all of your files.
There are many unmanageable file formats for multimedia files, so audio and video malfunc-
tions may occur, or it may not even be possible to play a file at all.
Playback programmes for computers are far more flexible here, not only because there are
many different programmes, but also because of frequent updates or newer versions.
It might help to convert a problematic multimedia file, using suitable software, into another
format.
• Select the right video format for the playback (e.g. PAL/NTSC), otherwise the screen display
will be in black and white only.
• Select the right input on the reproduction device as well as the right output on the media play-
er. Use an appropriate connection cable.
• The inbuilt DVD drive cannot play Blu-ray or HD DVDs. Only conventional CD or DVD data car-
riers with appropriate multi media files can be played.
Push the CD/DVD into the drive with the data layer pointing downwards.
Only insert one CD or DVD into the slot-in drive, otherwise the drive mechanism might be dam-
aged.
Do not use force when inserting a CD/DVD into the drive. Push the CD/DVD slowly and straight
into the slot, until the CD/DVD is pulled in by the mechanism.
Do not use CDs/DVDs with stickers, since they may impair or even damage the mechanism.
It is not possible to use 8cm CDs/DVDs. Do not insert this form of CD/DVD.
• Do not move the media player while it is switched on and the hard disk is in use. Movements
(when the media player e. g. is moved to a different location) may cause the the hard disk's
write/read head to touch the magnetic disk, which will damage the hard disk (e.g. faulty sec-
tors).
The same applies to any external hard disks that are connected via USB.
Maintenance and Cleaning
Apart from occasional cleaning and replacing the batteries in the IR remote control, the product
does not require maintenance. Do not dismantle it (except to installation a hard disk as described
in these instructions).
Only clean the product with a soft, clean, dry cloth. Do not use aggressive cleaning agents since
these might cause discolouration of the enclosure.
Dust can be easily removed with a soft, clean long-hair brush and a vacuum cleaner.
Clean the slot for the drive from dust frequently, otherwise it could cause scratch marks when
inserting/removing CDs/DVDs.
Therefore, do not insert dirty CDs/DVDs, clean them before insertion. You can acquire special
cleaning agents for this purpose from accessory dealers.
