Selecting the outdoor sensor
If more than one outdoor sensor is reported to the base station (one is in the pack-
age; up to two more are possible), you can switch the temperature display with the
"CHANNEL" button (4).
The corresponding channel number (1, 2 or 3) appears in the display to the left of the
outdoor temperature display.
If more than one outdoor sensor is reported to the base station, each must
be set to a different channel (sliding switch in the battery compartment of
the outdoor sensor).
Activating the background lighting of the LC display
Briefly press the "SNOOZE/LIGHT" button (2) to activate the background lighting for
the LC display.
The background light switches off automatically after about 5 seconds in order to save
energy.
Range
The transmission range of the radio signals between the outdoor sensor and the base
station is up to 50 m under optimum conditions.
However, this range specification refers to the so-called "free-field range".
However, this ideal arrangement (e.g., base station and outdoor sensor on a plain,
even meadow without trees, houses, etc.) never exists in practice.
Normally the base station is set up at home and the outdoor sensor, e.g., is located
next to a window.
Due to the different influences on the radio transmission, no specific range can be
guaranteed.
However, trouble-free operation is usually possible in a single family house. If the base
station does not receive any data from the outdoor sensor (despite new batteries),
please shorten the distance between the outdoor sensor and base station or change
the location.
Sometimes the range can be considerably reduced due to:
• Walls, reinforced concrete ceilings
• Coated/vapour-deposited insulating glass panes, aluminium windows
• Trees, shrubs
• Proximity to metallic & conductive objects (e.g. heating elements)
• Proximity to human bodies
• Broadband interferences, e.g., in residential areas (DECT telephones, mobiles,
radio-controlled headphones, radio-controlled speakers, other radio-controlled
weather stations, baby monitors, etc.)
• Proximity to cables, electric motors, transformers, power supply units, computers
• Proximity to mains sockets, network cables
Maintenance and cleaning
a) General
The product is maintenance-free for you; you should never dismantle it (except for
inserting/replacing the batteries as described in these operating instructions). Any
maintenance or repair work may be performed only by an expert.
The outside of the housing should only be cleaned with a clean, soft, dry cloth.
Do not use aggressive cleaning agents or chemical solutions that could
damage the housing (discolouring) or impair operation. Also, do not press
too hard on the display, as this may cause scratch marks or damage the
display.
Dust can easily be removed using a clean, long-haired brush and a vacuum cleaner.
b) Changing the battery
The batteries in the base station must be replaced if the display contrast decreases
strongly or the battery symbol appears in the bottom left, in the area of the indoor
temperature.
The batteries in the outdoor sensor must be replaced if a battery symbol appears in the
display in the area of the outdoor temperature display.
In that case, exchange the used/flat batteries for new ones and dispose of them in an
environmentally correct way; see chapter "Disposal".
