3. The cable jacket is smaller than the
inside diameter (I.D.) of insulator
sleeve. Build up the cable jacket
diameter by wrapping uncured
neoprene tape over jacket until it is
snug fit on I.D. of sleeve.
4. Lubricate I.D. of sleeve lightly with a
little liquid soap, or cable pulling
compound to make assembly easier.
Insert proper Com-a-long assembly
tool through sleeve from front of
sleeve. Lightly lubricate O.D. of
neoprene tape on cable and contact.
5. Connect Com-a-long to contact and
pull contact into sleeve until pin on
contact hits metal ring inside of
sleeve. Rotate Com-a-long clockwise
while pulling until it lines up with slot in
ring. Pull forward until pin on contact
is seated tightly in "U" shaped slot in
ring.
When pin is in correct position, the
Com-a-long can not be rotated
because pin prevents contact from
rotating. This securely holds contact
in sleeve, preventing forward
movement of contact and rotation of
contacts. The ring clips prevent the
contact from backward movement.

Wipe off excess lubricant. Blow dry
with air hose, if available. The helps
make the contact take a set in sleeve
to prevent movement.
6. Slip hose claps around insulator
sleeve and tighten snugly. Do not
over tighten as this will distort the
sleeve.
7. Wrap several layers of electrical tape
of hose clamp to prevent accidental
cutting of hands from sharp edges.
CAUTION—ONCE THE ASSEMBLY
HAS BEEN MADE, IT CAN NOT BE
DISASSEMBLED WITHOUT
DESTROYING THE LOCKING RING
ON THE CONTACT.
POSITIVE LATCH CONNECTORS.
Follow above procedure and at step 6
check to be sure the red trip button is
operating. Depress button and check that
the positive latch blade in end of contact
retracts and returns as button is
depressed and released. If button hangs
up, try pulling contact into sleeve further
so the trip button lines up with button in
contact. Recheck after tightening hose
clamp to be sure free movement of latch
remains.
