ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS
ATTACHABLE MCM SIZED CONNECTORS;
E1019 STANDARD-SERIES;
GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS. These connectors consist of a male or female contact
and molded male or female insulator sleeve. The contact has a pin which projects
above the surface and a ring with clips projecting above the surface to hold the
contact inside the insulator sleeve.
The insulator sleeve has a metal ring bonded inside to hold the contact. This metal
ring has a "U" shaped slot machined in one side to accept the pin on the contact and
a shoulder for the ring to lock into. The machined slot is located under the rib molding
parting line on the insulator sleeve and the opening is toward the cable end of the
sleeve.
ASSEMBLY TOOLS
A pair of male and female Com-a-long assembly tools are available for pulling
contacts into sleeve and are recommended. Part numbers are
A200020-5 Male Com-a-long for Female Connector
A200020-6 Female Com-a-long for Male Connector.
LUBRICANT
Liquid soap, or cable pulling compound used to lubricate the sleeve and cable will
make assembly easier. A lubricant is available from Chemtrend, Inc., 1445 West
McPherson Park Drive, Howell, Michigan 48844-0860. Their part number is CT-39F.
DO NOT COAT CONTACTS OR ID OF SLEEVE WHERE CONTACT FITS, AS THIS
WILL CAUSE THE CONTACT TO SLIP WITHIN SLEEVE.
ASSEMBLY PROCEDURE—MALE OR
FEMALE CONNECTOR
1. Cut cable to desired length. Use
sharp cable cutter. Do not saw
conductor as this distorts cable

2. Strip approximately 2 ¼" of cable
jacket off conductor. Insert bare
conductor into cable hole in contact.
Tighten set screws to 20—25 ft. Lbs.
of torque. Tighten end screw first,
then the second screw. Holding
contact in a vise makes it easier to
torque set screws.
