Freestanding Tub Drain
Installation Instructions
Always be aware of, and follow local plumbing codes. Be sure the subfloor is properly prepared for the installation.
Follow all safety guidelines, wear safety glasses, gloves and other appropriate protective equipment.
Failure to follow these instructions could result in personal injury or property damage.
Provides an easy way to connect the outlet of a
freestanding tub to the drainage system
Can be used with center and offset tub outlets
Test plug included, optional brass and polypro
tailpieces provided.
1. Determine the location of the drain. For a wood subfloor
installation cut a 4" diameter hole where the drain body will be
positioned.
2. Secure the drain base in the opening so that the flange is
supported by the subfloor. Be sure the drain base is level.
3. Solvent weld the 2" ABS/PVC drain pipe into the drain base
using the appropriate solvent cement.
Note: If desired, a transition may be made to 1-1/2" pipe, BELOW
the 2" pipe which is connected to the drain body. A minimum
length of 2" pipe must be installed that is long enough to ensure
the tailpiece/gasket makes full contact with the 2" pipe ID.
4. Test DWV system. The (white) DoubleDuty
used to seal the system for test. After test, the test plug may be
left in place to protect the drain line until ready to set the tub.
5. Install finish flooring around the drain base.
6. Measure the distance from the tub outlet connection to the
floor. Let 'X' represent this distance. Measure and cut the
(brass or poly) tailpiece to be 'X' + 3.75" long.
Note: Be sure to deburr tailpiece after cutting
7. Slide the outlet end of tailpiece completely into socket of red
gasket. Lubricate the ID of the 2" pipe at the top if desired*.
8. Remove the test plug, collar and (4) bolts from drain base.
Connect tailpiece to tub outlet, using poly washer (included)
inside tailpiece nut.
9. Align tub outlet with drain base and carefully lower tub into
place, being sure the tailpiece and gasket slide through drain
base and red gasket makes even contact with 2" pipe ID.
10. Be sure tub base makes solid/secure contact with floor, and
continue with tub installation according to manufacturer's
instructions.
* Lube is not required, but must be compatible with plastics if used.
