4. Operation
a. Turn the Unit On/Off / Volume Control
When the unit is off, turn the volume knob (fig.1 #1) clockwise. A click indicates the unit is switched on. Turn the knob further
clockwise to increase the sound level. Turn it counterclockwise to decrease the sound level.
Turn the knob fully counterclockwise until it clicks. Now the unit is switched off. Note that the unit may also be turned off when it is
set to a very low sound level very near to the on/off click point.
b. Selecting the Channel
- Press the up (
fig.1 #4) or down ( fig.1 #11) key to select the channel.
- Set both units to the same channel for communication.
c. Call Function
- Press the Call key (fig.1 #5) to let the other unit ring its call tone.
- There are short calling melodies indicating the start and finish of the call tone transmission.
d. Transmitting a Message
- Press and hold the PTT key (fig.1 #2). Speak into the microphone from a distance of 2,5 to 5cm.
- When you have finished speaking, release the PTT button to be able to receive signal from the other device.
- To talk over the earphone, simply plug the earphone into its jack (fig.1 #8) and hold the PTT button while speaking.
e. Monitoring Function (MON)
The monitoring function can be used when there is weak transmission.
- Press and hold the MON key (fig.1 #3) to hear all signals on the selected channel.
- Release the MON key to return to the normal status.
- Do not use the MON function when the transmission is OK: it will only result in more background noise.
f. Key Lock
- Press the Call key (fig.1 #5) and the up (
bleep indicates the keys are locked. The key lock icon (fig.2 #1) appears on the screen.

- Perform the same operation to unlock the keypad as to lock it.
5. Points of Interest
- Do not hold the antenna while the CPMR3 is being used: this may affect transmission quality.
- Do not attempt to charge non-rechargeable batteries as this may damage both the device and the batteries.
- Your CPMR3 has been fully tuned prior to shipment. Do not open the housing or alter the settings.
- The only user-serviceable parts are the batteries.
- Avoid using the device in a dusty, humid or extremely hot or cold environment.
- Turn off your PMR in any place where posted notices instruct you to do so, such as on board an aircraft or in a hospital. Most
health care facilities use equipment that is sensitive to external RF energy, therefore it is recommended not to use your PMR
there in order to avoid electromagnetic interference.
- Use a soft moist cloth to clean your CPMR3. Do not use chemical agents as they may harm the housing of the unit and leak
inside, causing permanent damage.
