IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
WARNING:
When installing an electrical appliance, basic precautions should always be followed to reduce the
risk of fire, electrical shock, or injury, including the following:
• Always take care to protect your eyes when working with power tools and tubing— wear safety glasses. Take care to brace
the electric drill in such a way that it cannot "kick" back if it should hit a nail or obstruction.
• Consult your local building code concerning local regulations for the drilling of floor joists. As a rule, you should never drill
within the first 6" of the end of any joist, nor should you drill a joist anywhere other than in its exact vertical center. If it is
absolutely necessary to drill joists, drill where they are supported by walls which are close together (to the left and right of
where you intend to drill, such as hallways). Consult the building code for your safety assurance.
• Keep your can of PVC glue inside a small open box during installation, to prevent spillage.
• Whenever drilling, always check for plumbing and electrical wiring behind, above and below your
target area.
• Have a qualified electrician install all high voltage wiring to prevent any electrical mishaps.
GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS
This appliance must be grounded. If it should malfunction or break down, grounding provides a path of least resistance for
electric current to reduce the risk of shock. This appliance is equipped with a cord having an equipment-grounding conductor
and grounding plug. This plug must be plugged into an appropriate outlet that is properly installed and grounded in accordance
with all local codes and ordinances.
WARNING:
Improper connection of the equipment-grounded conductor
can result in a risk of electric shock. Check with a qualified
electrician or service person if you are unsure as to whether
the outlet is properly grounded. Do not modify the plug
provided with the appliance — if it will not fit the outlet,
have a proper outlet installed by a qualified electrician.
This appliance is for use on a normal 120 volt circuit and has
a grounding plug that looks like the plug illustrated*. Make
sure that the appliance is connected to an outlet having the
same configuration as the plug. No adapter should be used
with this appliance.
