2.3 Observations:
•
The detected signal is also periodic. It may be slightly deformed. The deformation
depends on the nature of the signal (rectangular or sinusoidal), on its amplitude,
its frequency (between 10 Hz and 50 kHz) and on the value of the supply voltage
of the transmitter and receiver.
•
An electromagnetic signal (infrared) modulated by a periodic signal of a completely
different nature passes through the optical fibre.
•
By rapidly toggling the on/off switch located on the transmitter unit, we can create
bursts of easily audible sine waves.
