Read and follow the safety instructions and instructions carefully before use.

Before assembling, you should familiarize yourself with the individual parts,
JA | 安全に関する注意事項
carefully separate them and, if necessary, e.g. deburr with a small file and
fine emery paper. Loose plastic particles can adhere to the internal surfaces.
After separating the individual parts, we recommend cleaning the parts with
lukewarm soapy water and a soft brush. Then rinse with clear water and let
it dry well. Polyamide is dissolved from methanoic acid (caution: caustic!)
and can be glued with it. Otherwise contact adhesives (e.g. Uhu® all-pur-
pose adhesive Kraft, apply thinly on both sides and allow to flash off) are
suitable, as well as 2-component epoxy resin and superglue. The latter are
also suitable for bonding with metal, e.g. Handle bars and accessories. This
kit has been carefully packed. Should a part still be missing, you can re-
quest it directly from DeskTop Locomotive Works® by sending in these
instructions with the part number (see below).

Assembly
1. Separate individual parts from the molding.
2. Deburr individual parts. Completely remove the lugs on the connecting
bars.
3. Dismantle the Piko Lok completely according to the instructions, inclu-
ding the plug-in parts from the frame; or alternatively use the replace-
ment frame, then the locomotive can still be rebuilt.
4. Now it's time to change the frame. As tools you need:
-
A small vice with rubber jaws, ideally rotatable and swiveling
-
A small hacksaw with a metal saw blade
-
A flat file 20 - 30 cm long, cut 3 (finishing file)
-
(Diamond-) needle files in various cross-sections
-
A caliper (clock or digital)
Follow the steps at the end of the instructions. Edit one side of the
frame first so that you can use the raw side as a dimension reference.
Take your time! Changing the frame takes about 4-5 hours. The di-
mensions are to be understood as the largest or smallest dimensions.
Since the frame is almost completely covered by the plastic parts, the
machined surfaces do not have to be particularly flat and have a good
surface. When processing the second side, always check whether the
housing fits. There are 2 cams on both sides under the running board,
these must not be removed.
5. File away the details on the front of the frame.
6. Paint the frame as desired. In the RLE locomotives it was light gray RAL
7035
7. Remove both lighting boards: for the front board, cut the wires as close
as possible to the main board, the rear board must be unsoldered.
8. Cover the LED of the cab lighting, e.g. with a small piece of plastic.
9. Assemble the running gear according to the instructions and carry out a
test run.
10. Attach accessories to the housing. For the lanterns on
the buffer boards, carefully drill out the holes, as these
are very close to the edge of the buffer board. Drill all
other holes also to the diameter of the pins on the
brass parts.

11.Bend and assemble the handlebars, see the pictures and
drawings for the position and shape.
12.Paint the housing parts as required. The RLE locomotives were
originally purple RAL 3004, the trim strips on the stem were painted
aluminum or partially purple
13.Glue the cooler in the center of the groove for the front lighting
board of the frame, the contoured side facing forward.
14. Glue the grille into the housing.
15. Cut out the window, bend the large part of the window at the lasered
fold lines to the rear approx. 80 °. The lasered line is on the outside.
16. Insert the large window part from the inside into the housing, it holds
without sticking. Glue in the other windows from the inside. It is advisa-
ble to leave a door window open, then it will be easier to remove the
driver's cab insert later.
17. Clip in the driver's cab insert from the inside.
18. Place the housing on the frame.
19. Glue frame parts to the metal frame, not to the housing!
20. Carry out a test run again. If everything works to satisfaction, the small
locomotive is ready for its first use from Neheim-Hüsten to Arnsberg or
Niederense, from Hamm to Lippborg, in Soest or Werl!
