CHARGING SET VG3
DESCRIPTION
The inflation checker is the instrument needed for
checking , charging and nitrogen bleed of all OLAER
accumulators, up to a maximum operating pressure of
550 bar.
Screw on the inflation valve, it connects by a flexible
tube for connection to a nitrogen source
The equipment comprises three sub-assemblies :
- tester and pressurizer VG3
- flexible tube for connection to a nitrogen source
- case
GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS
- Pressure gauge (item A) with standardized graduations
in bar
- General bleed (item B)
- Pressurizing port with non-return valve for 60° BSP
1/4'' male flexible connector (item C)
- Kurled cap (item D)
- Adjusting knob (item E)
- 3 connectors (screwed inside connector F) to connect
the accumulator to the tester and pressurizer
. SAE 7/8'' 14 NF 2 (item F)
. SAE 5/8'' 18 NF 2 (item G)
. 0,305''-32 NFT (for schrader type valve) (item H)
- Flexible tube :
. standard TS2 maxi. operating pressure : 400 bars
. standard TS6 maxi. operating pressure : 550 bars
Lenght approx. 2 metres. The tube is fitted with a
female connector at both ends
. 60° BSP 1/4'' connector for connection to the
pressurizing port (item C)
. connector dia 21,7 x 1,814 SI with gasket for
connection to a pressure source (commercial
nitrogen cylinder, portable nitrogen station,
superpressurizer, etc.)

INSTALLATION AND USE
For pressurizing from a commercial nitrogen cylinder, it
you must fit a pressure reducing valve between the tube
and the cylinder.
CHECKING
- Make sure that the accumulator has been isolated from
the circuit and decompressed on the liquid side
- Unswrew the cap(s) on the pressurizing valve side
- Select the appropriate connector for the pressurizing
valve side (item F)
- Unscrew the adjusting knob (item E)
- Open the general bleed (item B)
- Screw the tester and pressurizer on to the pressurizing
valve by hand
- Lock the connector by hand, correctly positioning the
pressure gauge
- Close the general bleed (item B)
- Turn the adjusting knob (item E), observing the needle
on the pressure gauge. When the needle moves from
0, continue turning (1/2 is sufficient : it is not
necessary to turn the knob until it locks).
- Read the pressure on the pressure gauge
- To reduce the pressure : slowly open the general bleed
until the required pressure is obtained
- To increase the pressure :
. remove the knurled cap (item D)
. connect the end of the 60° BSP 1/4'' tube to the port
(item C)
. connect the other end of the tube to the nitrogen
source and pressurize
It is essential to wait for the heat exchange caused by
the pressure movement to stabilize before checking or
adjusting the precharge. For safety reasons, isolate the
nitrogen source during the period of stabilization.
DISASSEMBLY
Carry out the checking operations in reverse order.
After removing the tester and pressurizer, make sure
that the pressurizing valve is airtight. Screw the cap(s)
back in on the pressurizing valve side.
