One Tiller Operator's Manual
NOTE: This operator's manual may cover
various models of tillers. The machines
illustrated may vary slightly from your tiller.
NOTE: Stand behind the tiller as if you were
going to operate it. Your right hand corresponds
to the right side of the tiller and your left hand
corresponds to the left side of the tiller.
NOTE: The tiller is shipped without gasoline
or oil in the engine. Fill up gasoline and oil as
instructed in the accompanying engine manual
before operating your machine.
Assembly
Tines
The tines must be installed correctly to insure
proper operation. See below for the proper
tine installation:
1.
The tines must be installed in the correct
location and the correct order. Each tine
is marked as follows:
•
A1 — Inner LH Tine
•
A2 — Outer LH Tine
•
B1 — Inner RH Tine
•
B2 — Outer RH Tine
2.
From the front of the unit, using four
clevis pins and four cotter pins from the
manual bag, install the tines onto the tine
shaft inner tines first, then the outer tines
and exactly as shown in Figure 3-1.

NOTE: The outer tines can be placed in
either of the two outside holes. The inner
hole is for a 22" tilling width and the
outer hole is for a 24" tilling width.

Handle
1.
Remove the star handle knobs and the
carriage screws from the lower handle.
See Figure 3-2.

Position the upper handle onto the lower
handle, Step A in Figure 3-3. Align the
holes on the lower handle with the holes
on the upper handle. Choose the upper
or lower holes depending on the desired
handle height.

Insert carriage screws through the holes and
secure with the star knobs, Step B in Figure
3-3. Make certain the carriage screws are
seated securely into one of the two positions
provided.

One 20 oz. bottle of oil
4.
Insert the left end of the tine clutch
control into the hole on the left side of
the upper handle. See Figure 3-4.

5.
Insert the Z-fitting on the clutch cable
into the hole on the tine clutch control.
Hook the "Z" end into the opening from
the inside to the outside as shown in
Figure 3-5.
