1.) Select the attachment (large or small) that matches best with the appliqué that you want
to apply to your material. Affix the attachment to the screw head of the device. Ensure
that the fitting is sufficiently secured, if necessary retighten screw.
2.) Plug the device into an outlet and wait 3-4 minutes until the device has reached its best
working temperature.
3.) After drawing the pattern on the paper side of the strip of Vliesofix®, cut it out. Put the
appliqué with the rough side onto the left side of the material and iron it onto the material
(app. 3-4 seconds). Do not push the mini flat iron onto the material! Instead press it
lightly onto the material. Repeat this step for the entire pattern – that's how the Vliesofix®
will be attached to the fabric.
4.) Cut out the developed template and detract the paper strip of it.
5.) Now place the appliqué with the coated-side facedown on the chosen position and cover
appliqué with a slightly wet cloth. Eventually Iron it onto the fabric step by step –
depending on the fabric's thickness this process can endure about app. 6-10
seconds/position.
6.) The appliqué is now attached to the fabric and will even bear up against delicate washing
machine programs.
7.) The mini flat iron wasn't used properly if either the appliqué starts falling off the fabric or
brown parts occur on the fabric.
8.) Un-plug device after usage and let it cool down.
9.) To prevent fabric from fraying, we advise finishing the project off with a zigzag stitch.
Hint:
Due to the small size of the iron it's even possible to work with curved or hard to handle
material (e.g. sneakers, back of books). Also try to apply appliqués to unusual surfaces like
wood, felt or even outlets.
Caution:
The smaller attachment can reach a high working temperature of 230 degrees (+/- 25
degrees), the larger attachment 200 degrees. If choosing a very sensitive fabric, always
select the larger attachment!
Not every fabric is suitable for the mini flat iron. Faux leather, polyester and other heat-
sensitive fabrics are not able to stand the high temperatures of this device!
6
