3. OPERATION
WARNING! The foot pedal is under tension. Before removing the safety clip, put your hand on the pedal to prevent it flying
up and injuring you.
• To assemble, ensure that the adjustment screw is wound all the way in, and is touching the back of the splitter head. Remove the safety clip and
fit the foot assembly. Refit the safety clip and hook it over the foot pedal. The log splitter is now ready to use.
• Adjusting working height
• Remove the safety clip and adjust the foot pedal height to at least 33cm (13 inches) by screwing the adjustment screw out (to raise
the foot pedal) and in (to lower the foot pedal.)
• Splitting Logs (Refer to Fig. 2)
TIPS
Wet or non seasoned wood is more difficult to split than dry wood because the fibers stick together.
Reversing the log and splitting it from the other end may help if you cannot pull the wood apart.
Large or multiple knots in a log make splitting more difficult. Usually if the log is rotated so the knots are vertical to the blade, the
wood will split more easily and less stress is placed on the splitter. This will reduce wear and tear and the possibility of damaging
components of the splitter.
• Remove the safety cover from the cutter. Select your log and lift the slide stop lever to allow it to be moved along the bar. Lay the log
on the splitter and push the slide stop onto the end of the log.
• Pump the foot pedal down, it may take three or four pumps, until the log is split.
• To remove a log from the splitter, that has not been split all the way through, lift the lever on the slide stop and pull it back, place your
foot on the bottom bar and pull the end of the log sideways towards you.
• When finished fit the safety cover and safety clip, wind in the adjustment screw and store in a safe, childproof location.
• Keep moving parts lubricated with anti-rust machine oil.
