INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR
QCC1 HOSE ASSEMBLY TO
CONNECT PORTABLE GAS GRILL TO
REFILLABLE PROPANE CYLINDER
FAILURE TO FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS MAY RESULT IN AN EXPLOSION OR FIRE THAT
MAY CAUSE PROPERTY DAMAGE, SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH.
1. READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS PRIOR TO INSTALLATION AND USE of this QCC1 hose assembly to connect portable
gas grill to refillable propane cylinder. Installation or disconnection of hose assembly and leak testing must take place
outdoors in a well ventilated area only.
2. DO NOT make modifications to this hose assembly, if this hose assembly does not fit return to place of purchase and
obtain correct hose assembly for your grill.
3. Examine the hose and fittings for damage. If damaged return to original place of purchase and exchange for a
complete new hose assembly
Movement of grill, removal of old hose assembly and installation of new hose assembly should only
CONNECTION OF HOSE ASSEMBLY
4. Turn burner control knob to "off" position, turn gas "off" at cylinder by turning cylinder valve handle clockwise.
5. Move grill to an open well ventilated outdoor area prior to connecting or disconnecting the hose assembly.
6. Connect hose to portable gas grill burner control by turning knurled section of male swivel fitting clockwise. Tighten
by hand.
7. Connect the plastic coupling nut to the large outside threads on the cylinder valve outlet by holding the regulator in
one hand and inserting the guide nipple into the cylinder valve outlet. Hand tighten the plastic coupling nut,
clockwise, taking care not to cross thread the connection.
8. Turn the plastic coupling nut to a full stop
In the connection process, the grill side of the connection will seal on the internal backcheck module
in the cylinder valve resulting in a slight resistance. The connection requires about one-half to three
quarters additional turn to complete the connection. Tighten by hand only, DO NOT use tools. If you
cannot complete the final connection, disconnect the regulator and repeat steps 6 to 8. If you are still
unable to complete this connection, do not use this cylinder valve and regulator connection. Consult
9. Ensure that the hose is not touching the grill casting in any location.
CHECK FOR LEAKS
10. Before lighting your grill, check all connections for leaks using a mild soapy water solution. DO NOT use matches,
lighters or flame to check for leaks, you could cause an explosion.
11. With the grill burner controls turned "off", slowly open the propane cylinder valve by turning the handle
counterclockwise. Apply mild soapy solution to all connections and look for bubbles. A expanding bubble or bubbles
indicate a leak. Repair all leaks prior to lighting grill.
12. If you cannot stop a leak by additional tightening of the connection turn "off" the propane cylinder valve. Disconnect
the leaking connection as per steps 14 and 17, re-install as per steps 6 to 8. Recheck for leaks as per steps 10 and 11.
To prevent fire or explosion hazard when leak testing:
(1) NO SMOKING. DO NOT use or permit sources of ignition in the area while conducting a leak test.
(2) Conduct leak test outdoors in well ventilated area.
(3) DO NOT use matches, lighters or flame to check for leaks.
(4) DO NOT use grill until any leaks are corrected.
(5) If you are unable to stop a leak, shut-off the propane supply at the cylinder valve. Remove the
cylinder from the grill. Call a Gas Appliance Serviceman or your local propane gas supplier.
13. Consult the grill manufacturers lighting instructions for correct lighting procedures of your particular grill
DISCONNECTION OF HOSE ASSEMBLY:
14. Turn burner control knob to "off" position, turn gas "off" at cylinder by turning cylinder valve handle clockwise.
15. Let grill cool prior to disconnecting hose assembly from grill or cylinder valve.
Note: The connection at the cylinder valve is a left hand thread, turn the plastic hand wheel clockwise to remove
the fitting from the cylinder valve outlet.
16. If this hose assembly is a replacement for a QCC-1 grill connection, disconnect regulator from cylinder valve outlet by
turning plastic coupling nut counterclockwise until it disengages from large outside threads on cylinder valve outlet.
17. Disconnect hose from portable gas grill burner control by turning knurled section of male swivel fitting counterclockwise.
Check that the burner control valve orifices are inside the burner venturi tubes each time the grill is
moved. Consult the grill manufacturers Installation & Maintenance Manual for correct orifice
