3. Always cut bends in counterclockwise rotation.
4. When you must break off the cut, first switch off the unit and wait until the
blades stall. Then take the blades out of the working piece. So you avoid
damaging the material.
Replacing the Blades
Replace damaged or used up blades with blades
constructed in the same way.
1. Screw off each rearward fastening screw by using
an adequate Allen key. Replace it by a new one.
Adjust the blades as described in "Set up the
Blades".
2. Tighten the blades so that their cutting edges are
parallel and the blades do not touch each other.
Replacing the Carbon Brushes
Enclosed in delivery you will find a pair of carbon brushes (3). If the machine
works powerless and sparking occurs at the brushes, it may be a sign that the
carbon brushes are used up and have to be replaced. Have the carbon brushes
replaced by a professional only or return the unit to the Westfalia customer
support department. Do not open the housing of the electric plate shear. Do not
try to repair it yourself. Replace both carbon brushes at the same time.
Maintenance and Care
Pull the plug from the wall socket before starting all maintenance work of the
plate shear!
Where necessary clean the unit with a moist cloth. Do not use abrasive or
aggressive chemicals, which may dissolve plastic parts. Keep the handle dry
and free from oil or grease.
Always keep the ventilation slots clean and free from obstructions. If
necessary, clean the ventilation slots with a soft paint brush. Do not allow
liquids to enter the unit and never dip parts of the tool into fluids. Please make
sure that all screws and all parts of the plate shear are tightened. After using
the unit, please check the condition of the blades. Do not use defective or
deformed blades.
Store the unit in a dry place between 10°C and 30°C out of reach of children
and persons in need of supervision.
