Proper preparation and stripping of the sh tape is critical to the strength of the 7" leader-tape connection.
A
Using side cutting pliers, cleanly cut off damaged end of fish tape.
B
Using a Klein stripper (#12 gauge), strip off 1/2" of the outer orange nylon jacket exposing ½" of the white inner core.
If the white inner core is longer than ½", trim it down to ½".
C
Caution should be taken to avoid nicking or scraping the white inner core. Any damage could weaken the 7" leader-tape
connection. If damage appears, repeat the cut and strip process.
A
D
Apply adhesive liberally (supplied with kit) to stripped end of the Fish Tape. Eyelets and Leaders are NOT compatible with Klein
Tools Nylon Fish Tapes (Cat. Nos. 56011, 56012)
E
Insert stripped end into the 7" leader and gently twist to make sure fish tape bottoms-out into the leader.
D
F
Four crimps are necessary to maximize the strength of the sh tape - leader connection.
• 1st and 2nd Crimp: Align the single pin in the round recess of the crimper jaws with one of the two dimples located on the
midsection of the ferrule. Squeeze crimper handles together until they fully release to complete the crimp. Perform the second
crimp in the same manner on the dimple located on the opposite side of the completed crimp.
• 3rd and 4th Crimp: Measure 1/4" from the bottom edge of the ferrule and perform another set of crimps in-line with the
1st and 2nd crimps. NOTE: There are no dimples for these crimps.
Your Klein Tools Fish Tape may be used immediately on light pulls. For heavy pulls, allow 24 hours for adhesive to dry.
