ASTM laboratory accuracy requirements in the display range of 36°C to 39°C
(98.8°F to 102.2°F) for infrared thermometers is ±0.2°C (±0.4°F), whereas for
mercury-in-glass and electronic thermometers, the requirement per ASTM
Standards E667-86 and E1112-00 is ±0.1°C (±0.2°F).
The Accu-Light 1-Second Ear Thermometer has an operating range of 5.0- 40C. The
maximum error applies to the operating range 16-40C as specified in thee ASTM
E1965-98.
