12. Maintain tools with care. Maintain clean and sharp tools for better
and safer performance. Inspect tool cords and extension cords
periodically. Have tools repaired by an authorized service facility
if damaged. Replace all worn, broken or lost parts immediately.
Keep the handles dry, clean and free from oil and grease.
13. Disconnect tools when not in use, before servicing and when
changing accessories. Ensure switch is in the off position before
plugging a tool in. Never carry a plugged in tool with a finger on
the switch. Keep hands, body and clothing clear of blades, bits
and cutters when plugging in the tool.
14. When using tools outdoors, only use extension cords marked
"suitable for use with outdoor appliances." Store tools and
extension cords indoors when not in use.
15. Stay alert and exercise caution while working. Use common
sense. Keep hands away from the cutting area.
16. Wear ear protection to safeguard against potential hearing loss.
Additional Safety Rules
1. Stay clear of end pieces that may fall after being cut off.
2. Always use the correct blade recommended to cut material.
3. Do not operate the saw with the guide shoe removed.
4. Do not attempt to plunge cut metal.
5. Some wood may contain preservatives that can be toxic. Take extra
care to prevent inhalation and skin contact when working with
these materials. Request, and follow, any safety information
available from your material supplier.
6. Sawing metal. When cutting angle, H-beam, I-beam, channel, etc,
start the cut on the surface where the greatest number of teeth will
contact the work. To make a pocket cut, drill a starting hole first.
