► The attempt to climb under an electric fence can cause a shock to the head
if contact is made with the fence. Persons with heart conditions, particularly
those fitted with pace makers, have a higher risk of losing consciousness
than a healthy person. The risk is increased if the head or neck touches the
electrified wire.
► There is a slight chance that a person who comes into contact with an
electric fence can suffer a cardiac arrest or experience ventricular fibrillation.
However, synchronising the electric fence energiser with the correct pulse can
prevent cardiac arrest and ventricular fibrillation.
► Incorrectly installed electric fences with high currents can cause electric
shocks that can lead to loss of muscle control. An electric shock can cause
painful muscle cramps that can break bones and dislocate joints.

Keep in mind that the following specifications concerning the marking of
electrified animal fences (electric fences) are specific to each country. Please
follow the regulations of your respective country in this regard.
► Electrified animal fences (electric fences) that run along a public road or public
path must be marked with warning signs at frequent intervals to warn persons
outside the fence of possible dangers. Such warning signs must be fixed to
the fence posts or clamped to the fence wires in clearly visible positions. The
following specifications must be observed for these warning signs:
• Minimum size of 100 mm x 200 mm
• Black lettering (min. font size 25 mm, on both sides, not erasable) on
a yellow background with the relevant content "ATTENTION. ELECTRIC
FENCE" and/or the pictogram shown in the illustration:
► If the electrified animal fence (electric fence) crosses a public footpath, a non‑
electrified gate must be erected at this point or a crossing by means of a stile
must be provided. Electrified wires in the vicinity must also be marked with
warning signs.
► Generally, warning signs are to be placed at each gate or access point and at
regular intervals. A distance of max. 10 m is recommended for the intervals.
