STARTING UP
WARNING Pay attention to the mains voltage! The mains voltage
mustcorrespond to the voltage indicated on the technical data
identificationlabel (1).
DANGER Before any intervention on the electrical tool take the plug
out from the socket
BEFORE STARTING THE TOOL
Before starting-up the tool, ensure that:
- the packaging is complete and does not show signs of having been
damaged during storage or transport;
- the tool is complete; check that the number and type of components comply
with that reported in this instruction booklet;
- the power supply and socket outlet can support the load reported in the
table and that indicated on the tool identification plate reproduced;
- the power supply cable and plug are in perfect condition;
- the ON/OFF switch (2) works properly though with the power supply
disconnected;
- the wheel spindle locking button (3) is released (rotate the abrasive wheel
byhand for at least one revolution);
- all the parts of the tool have been assembled in the proper manner and that

ASSEMBLING THE TOOL
DANGER:never work without protective earmuffs (6)
Wear protective gloves!
ASSEMBLING THE TOOL
(GL080-GL080E)
- Fit the guard (6) onto the machine body using the screws (8), then insert the
collar (7) verifying that the juts on the collar are aligned with the slots on the
protection flange. Verify that the guard is placed next to the handle.
- After fitting the screws (8) and collar (7), verify that the guard can be turned with
a slight friction by approximately 20°, thus making work more comfortable for
the operator;
- screw in the auxiliary handle (5); the handle can be mounted on the left or right
of the tool body.
The adjustable protectiveshield must be mounted around the handle
FITTING ABRASIVE WHEEL (GL080-GL080E)
1. Insert the spacer (9).
2. insert the abrasive wheel;
3. Firmly tighten the locking ring (10) with the adjustable wrench, keeping the
spindle shaft (4) in place with the 17 mm wrench or the locking button (3).
FITTING THE DISC HOLDER AND THE FIBER-COATED DISC (GL040-GL040E)
1. Insert the spacer (9).
2. Fit the disc holder (14) onto the spindle shaft (4).
3. Assemble the fiber-coated disc.
4. Tighten the tapered ring nut (10A) and lock it with the adjustable wrench (13),
keeping the spindle shaft (4) in place with the 17 mm wrench or the locking
button (3).
ELECTRONIC SELECTING RPM (GL040E-GL080E)
The rpm can be adjusted by rotating the wheel (14). The choice of speed depends
on the characteristics of the abrasive disc and the material to be worked.
DISASSEMBLING AND REPLACING THE GRINDING WHEEL OR DISC-
HOLDER
This operation can be performed in two ways.
-
First method: lock the spindle shaft (4) by pressing the button (3) and
