2.3 Assembly and use conditions

2.3.1 Upon delivery
All geared motors are thoroughly inspected during manufacture and tested at length before
shipment.
• Prior to opening, make sure that the packaging has not been damaged during
transport; the addressee must file a complaint with the carrier within 24 hours if
necessary.
• Unpack the geared motor carefully and check it is in good condition and in particular
that :
there are no traces of oil in the bag.
the lip seal located on the front of the gearbox is in perfect condition.
the data on the manufacturer's plate complies with the data on the order
acknowledgement.
Caution: The packaging may contain documents or accessories essential to the user.
We recommend that a record is made and kept of the information contained on the name
plate; a space is provided for this purpose on page 1 of this document.
2.3.2 Handling and Storage
Ensure that the geared motor is not lifted by the end of the shaft or by the cables when
handling the product.
The geared motor must be stored in a dry place safe from sudden temperature changes so
that condensation cannot form whilst awaiting installation.
If the geared motor is to be stored for a long period of time, check that the shaft end and
the flange surface are coated with a corrosion resistant product.
In the event of prolonged storage (more than 3 months), restart the geared motor and
run it at low speed so that the lip seal located on the front of the gearbox (rubbing on the
non-lubricated shaft following a long immobilization) is not damaged.
