INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR
QUICK RELEASE POWER CONNECTOR
MKR-20 #1865107
This kit contains:
(2) Housings (4) Contacts (4) Solder plugs
Thank you for purchasing the finest power connector available!
No Crimp Tools Required.
Tools Required: Vise, Propane Torch, Wire Stripper, Safety Glasses,
Gloves,
Rag or Steel Wool.
Note: Gloves and Safety Glasses are required during the installation
of the cable into the contact barrel.
1. Lightly clamp contact in a vise with soft jaws (protective cover) with barrel up.
2. Strip cable back 1/2" to 9/16".
3. Insert solder plug into the contact.
4. Apply heat to contact using a propane torch. Note: the tip of
the blue flame is the hottest part of the flame, so keep the tip just
touching the part. Rotate the cable while gently pushing down into the contact.
As the solder melts push the cable completely into the barrel of the
contact. Continue heating until the solder flows into the wire,
being careful not to overflow onto contact surfaces. Allow the contact to cool.
If solder spills over onto the contact surfaces, remove excess solder by
reheating the drip and wiping it off with rag or steel wool, or by carefully filing it off
after it is cool. Do not solder dip the contacts.
5. Repeat steps 1-4 for the remaining contacts.
6. Allow Solder and contact to cool before handling. Make sure to
wipe away any excess flux from the contacts. Insert contacts
into housing. Note: when sliding contact into housing place flat side
of contact on top of flat spring material and push until it locks in place.
