Fitting and removing a drill bit or a screwdriver bit
(fig. C)
This tool uses screwdriver bits and drill bits with a 6.35 mm
(1/4") hexagonal shank.
To fit a bit, insert the bit shaft into the bit holder (4).
u
To remove a bit, pull the bit shaft out of the bit holder (4).
u
Residual risks.
Additional residual risks may arise when using the tool which
may not be included in the enclosed safety warnings. These
risks can arise from misuse, prolonged use etc.
Even with the application of the relevant safety regulations
and the implementation of safety devices, certain residual
risks can not be avoided. These include:
Injuries caused by touching any rotating/moving
u
parts.
Injuries caused when changing any parts, blades or
u
accessories.
Injuries caused by prolonged use of a tool. When
u
using any tool for prolonged periods ensure you take
regular breaks.
Impairment of hearing.
u
Health hazards caused by breathing dust developed
u
when using your tool (example:- working with wood,
especially oak, beech and MDF.)
Use
Warning! Let the tool work at its own pace. Do not overload.
Before first use, the battery must be charged for at least
u
12 hours.
Charging the battery (fig. A)
Place the tool on the charging base (9).
u
Plug in the charger (8).
u
Leave the tool connected to the charger for 12 hours.
u
The red light illuminates when the unit is on charge and will
stay red as long as there is power to the charger. The red light
will not go off to indicate a full charge.
The charger may hum and become warm while charging;
this is normal and does not indicate a problem.
Warning! Do not charge the battery at ambient temperatures
below 10 °C or above 40 °C.
Selecting the direction of rotation (fig. D)
For drilling and for tightening screws, use forward (clockwise)
rotation. For loosening screws or removing a jammed drill bit,
use reverse (counterclockwise) rotation.
The forward/reverse window (3) displays the rotation direction
with an arrow.
8
To select forward rotation, push the forward/reverse slider
u
(2) to the forward position.
To select reverse rotation, push the forward/reverse slider
u
(2) to the rearward position.
To lock the tool, set the forward/reverse slider into the
u
centre position.
Selecting the torque (fig. E)
This tool is fitted with a collar to set the torque for various
screwdriving and drilling applications. Large screws and hard
workpiece materials require a higher torque setting than small
screws and soft workpiece materials. The collar has a range
of 6 settings to suit your application.
To set the torque, rotate the torque adjustment collar (6)
u
clockwise or counterclockwise.
For screwdriving, set the collar to the desired setting.
u
If you do not yet know the appropriate setting, proceed as
follows:
- Set the collar (6) to the lowest torque setting.
- Tighten the first screw.
- If the clutch ratchets before the desired result is
achieved, increase the collar setting and continue
tightening the screw. Repeat until you reach the correct
setting. Use this setting for the remaining screws.
Screwdriving applications
Torque range: low torque for small screws and
high torque for large screws
Drilling/screwdriving
Select forward or reverse rotation using the forward/
u
reverse slider (2).
To switch the tool on, press the on/off switch (1).
u
To switch the tool off, release the on/off switch (1).
u
Screwdriving using the screw holder (fig. F1 - F3)
The screw holder (7) can be used with 1" and 2" screwdriver
bits. The screw holder cannot be used with bit tip holder
extensions.
Pull the screw holder (7) out the tool (fig. F1).
u
Place the screw onto the screw holder (fig. F2).
u
Push the screw holder towards the screw making sure the
u
bit tip and the screw are fully engaged (fig. F3).
The screw is securely held to the screw holder with a magnet.
The magnet does not work on non-ferrous screws.
Drive the screw into the wall.
u
When screwdriving, the screw holder retracts in order to allow
the screw to be driven to its required depth.
