Axial piston pump
The cylinder block (17) is set into rotary motion by the drive shaft (1). The pistons (18) in the cylinder block
rotate on the swash plate (3). The pistons are held by the piston shoes (19), which can also pull them out of
the piston block.
If the swash plate (3) is perpendicular to the drive shaft, the pistons rotate without any longitudinal motion.
No hydraulic oil is drawn in or pressed out. This position is designated zero stroke length. If the swash plate
swivels out, angle α becomes larger and the longitudinal motion of the pistons increases. Hydraulic oil is
thus drawn in in the lower area, and pressed out in the upper area. Angle α determines the pump's delivery
rate. The swash plate is adjusted by the adjustment piston (4) in combination with the compression
spring (2).
