Safety Instructions
Please read all of the operating instructions before using the product for the
first time; they contain important information about its correct operation.
The warranty will be void in the event of damage caused by failure to observe
these safety instructions! Liability for any and all consequential damage is
excluded!
Nor do we assume any liability for material and personal damage caused by
improper use or non-compliance with the safety instructions! The warranty
will be void in such cases.
Dear customer,
These safety instructions are not only to protect the product but also for your own
safety and that of other people. Therefore, please read this chapter very carefully
before using the product for the first time!
• Unauthorised conversion and/or modification of the product is inadmissible
because of safety and approval reasons (CE). Do not open or disassemble it! It
does not contain any internal parts that need to be adjusted or maintained by you.
• Only use the network switch on the mains voltage (see „Technical Data").
• The product is not a toy. Keep devices that operate on the mains voltage out of the
reach of children. Therefore, be especially careful when children are around.
• The product is only intended for use in dry, indoor locations. No part of the product
should be allowed to become moist or wet, never take hold of it if your hands are
wet!
There is a risk of life-threatening electric shock!
Further, protect the product from direct solar radiation, strong heat (>55°C), cold
(<0°C), dust and dirt, splashes and dripping water, vibrations or mechanical loads.
• When the product is taken from a cold to a warm room (e.g. during transport), con-
densation may be produced. This could damage the product. This might cause a
lethal electric shock!
Therefore, you should allow the product to warm up to room temperature before
use or connecting the power cable to the mains voltage. This process may take
several hours.

Connection and Getting Started
The network switch can be installed or operated in different ways.
a) Installation on a flat surface:
Place the network switch on a stable and flat surface. Bear in mind, when selecting the installa-
tion position, easy access to the connections as well as the placing of the plugs for the network
cables so it is easy to plug in.
b) Installation in a network rack:
• First attach the installation angles to the network switch using the 8 screws enclosed. Then
fasten the product in your network rack with 2 rack-mount screws per side (not included in the
delivery).
• Connect the switch to a mains socket using the power cable included in the package contents
(for voltage, see Chapter „Technical Data"). Turn the device on using the switch on the rear.
The power LED on the network switch lights up.
After a short self-test, the switch is ready for use.
• Connect the network switch's RJ45 network ports to the corresponding ports on your computer
(or with other devices with network connections, e.g. television, satellite receiver, games
consoles etc.).
• If a device is connected to one of the ports and turned on, the respective Link/Act LED lights
up. This LED starts to flash during data transfers.
Web Interface
The network switch can be configured via the integrated Web Interface. The standard IP
address is 192.168.2.1, the user name and password is „admin" respectively.
In order to perform the configuration in the Web interface, you have to assign a fixed IP address
to the LAN connection of your PC. It should be 192.168.2.x, whereby x can be between 2 and
254. Set the subnet mask to 255.255.255.0. Also observe the instructions for your operating
system. The computer that you wish to configure, should be directly connected to the switch.
Once the network connection has been established, open your web browser and enter the
address http://192.168.2.1/ Now a log-on page of the web interface should appear. Here, enter
„admin" as user name and password respectively.
The home page for the web server will then appear, from which all of the settings can be made.
PoE (Power over Ethernet)
The network switch provides PoE on all 16 network ports. A terminal, e.g. a network camera
which supports PoE, will be automatically supplied with power via the network cable. This has
the advantage that only one cable for data transfer and power supply is to be connected to the
device.
• Do not pull the power plug from the mains socket by pulling on the cable.
• If the power cable is damaged, do not touch it. Danger of a lethal electric shock!
Switch off the mains voltage to the mains socket to which the power cable is
connected (e.g. switch off at the corresponding circuit breaker or remove the
safety fuse).
Then you can remove the mains plug from the mains socket. Dispose of the dam-
aged power cable in an environmentally friendly way, do not use it any more.
Replace it with a new power cable with the same specifications.
• The design of the product corresponds to the protection class I. Only use a stan-
dard earthed outlet as the voltage source (see chapter „Technical Data").
• Do not leave packing materials unattended. They may become dangerous play-
things for children.
• In commercial institutions, the accident prevention regulations of the Employer's
Liability Insurance Association for Electrical Systems and Operating Materials are
to be observed.
• In schools, educational centres, hobby and self-help workshops the operation of
the product is to be supervised by trained employees.
• Handle the product with care, it can be damaged by impacts, blows, or accidental
drops, even from a low height.
• If you have any questions that are not answered in this instruction manual, please
contact our technical support centre or consult a professional.
The network switch supplied here possesses an automatic uplink recognition. This
enables a particularly easy cabling to other switches. A cross-link cable is no longer
required, you can use a conventional 1:1 connected network cable.
Please consult the manufacturer's English instruction manual.
If this is enclosed in PDF format on a CD, you will need „Adobe Reader" to read it;
this can be downloaded for free at www.adobe.com.
Please note:
The permitted connected load of 15.4 Watts per port must not be exceeded! Please
observe the technical data of the product to be connected.
In any case, use a fully wired network cable to connect a PoE device. We recom-
mend the use of a cable with a CAT5e specification or better.
Please observe the operating instructions of the respective device.
