Assembly
The roof safety hooks should be attached in the middle of the rafters using the three grooved nails provided
6.0 x 100 mm (load rating category 2 in accordance with DIN 1052). For the attachment, section 12 of DIN 1052
should be observed (particularly: regarding wood density, cross section of rafters, minimum spacing, predrilling, insertion depth).
If attaching to wooden rafters, these rafters must be made of solid wood with a minimum cross section of 60 x 80 mm. The
grooved nails must be spaced at least 25 mm from the edge of the rafters. Predrilling of the holes on the rafter is not necessary.
According to Euro Code 5-1-1, there must be a minimum insertion depth of 6 x d (36 mm) in the supporting roof structure
(rafters).
If the roof safety hooks are not nailed straight to the rafters but to the roof planks instead, take account of the fact that these
wooden parts could split as they may not have the required thickness. In this case, the wooden parts between the rafters and the
roof safety hooks must be predrilled and tacks must be used that comply with DIN 1151. The minimum insertion depth in the
supporting roof structure (rafters) must be assured.
Other forms of attachment that meet DIN 1052, part 2, are possible.
Use
Roof safety hooks should only be used to support pulling forces in the direction that the roof slopes.
•
Roof safety hooks may only be secured to roof structures that meet the requirements of DIN 1052 for wooden
•
constructions.
When fitting, altering and removing roof safety hooks there is a risk of falling. The assembly measures must be
•
performed in such a way that there is no risk of falling or the risk is kept as low as possible.
The fitter must determine suitable measures for accident prevention based on a risk assessment of the individual case
•
or the respective activities. Suitable measures for accident prevention are:
deployment of employees that have received training on the particular hazards or
o
use of personal protective equipment
o
For rope safety devices, only safety harnesses that comply with DIN EN 361 may be used.
•
Roof safety hooks may not be used by several people at the same time as an anchor point for securing ropes.
•
Each time a dynamic load is placed on the part (where the safety feature is used to prevent an accident), the roof
•
safety hook must be replaced along with its attachment.
The means of attachment described above is not permitted for roof safety hooks on the gable-board.
•
Damaged or defective components must not be used.
•
Before use, all components must be visually checked by specialist personnel to ensure that they are capable of
•
withstanding the rated load.
Only genuine parts may be used that meet the manufacturer's specifications.
•
Note
These assembly instructions describe how to fit, alter and remove roof safety hooks.
