Operating Instructions
This cordless hobby tool is designed for grinding, polishing, drilling, sawing,
cutting, sanding and engraving. It is not designed to function as a screwdriver
or any purpose where there is strong resistance to turning. It is ideal for model
making and electronics plus other uses where accuracy is required. The lack
of a trailing mains cable increases freedom, precision and reduces risk of
damage when working with fragile materials. If the tool is operated correctly
and these instructions are followed, it will provide many years of service.
Charging the battery
• You can place the Li-Ion battery on charge at any time as the intelligent
charging system will charge from any level of existing charge in the battery
• The Speed Display (5) will indicate 'Lo' if you try to turn on the tool with the
battery in a low-charge state. The tool will not operate in this condition to
protect the Li-Ion battery from being fully discharged. You should charge the
tool as soon as possible and not store the tool in this low-charge condition
• The battery should be charged at 20˚C (room temperature)
1. Plug the Charger (10) into a mains socket
2. Insert the charger lead into the Charging Socket (7)
Note: Ensure that no metal parts are allowed to touch the charging socket as
this could cause an electrical short, damaging the battery
3. The Speed Display (5) doubles as a charging indicator. It will count
from 01 to 99 as it charges, the display will flash as it approaches a full
charge and the display will switch off when the battery is fully charged
4. After 2-3hrs the battery will be fully charged from a low-charge state
and should be disconnected from the power supply.
Note: The initial charge or charging after the tool has been in long term
storage may exceed 3 hours.
5. Allow 15mins for the battery to cool before use
6. Disconnect the charger from the power supply and store in a clean, dry
environment out of the reach of children
7. Do not leave the battery on charge for extended periods
WARNING: Do not store the tool for long periods discharged. Always fully
charge the battery before long-term storage. The discharge rate of Li-Ion
batteries is very slow taking months to discharge but once fully discharged the
battery will no longer be functional if left in this state for weeks or months
IMPORTANT: Failure to follow the correct procedure when charging the battery
will result in permanent damage. You must follow the correct procedure
Note: After 3 or 4 charging cycles the battery will reach maximum capacity as
the charging circuitry adjusts to the battery.
Operating Instructions
Fitting an accessory in the collet
1. Open the Collet Nut (1) by depressing the Spindle Lock Button (8) and
unscrewing the collet nut anticlockwise so the jaws of the collet inside
can open
2. Place the accessory required in the collet
3. Depress the spindle lock button and rotate the collet nut clockwise to
secure the accessory in the collet nut
Note: To change the fitted collet, fully unscrew the collet nut to allow removal
of the fitted collet and replace with the required size collet.
Switching on & off
1. To start the hobby tool press the On/Off Button (4) or press one of the
Speed Selector Buttons (6)
2. To stop the tool press the On/Off Button again
3. Use the Speed Selector Buttons (6) to select the required speed as
shown on the Speed Display (5). The higher the number on the dial, the
faster the spindle rotates. There are 16 speeds in total
Handling
• Hold the tool securely, keeping hands well away from rotating parts. For
most purposes, it is most convenient to grip the tool like a pencil
• Practise using the tool with scrap material before starting a job. Be aware
that different accessories will require different techniques, and may require
different speed settings
• Applying excess pressure does not result in faster or more efficient
performance. If the pressure applied to the tool has a noticeable effect on
the speed of the tool, then reduce the pressure. Overloading the tool will
reduce its service life and could cause injury if it causes the accessory to
break apart

Notes:
• Always ensure that material is secure. If appropriate use a vice or clamp to
hold the item being worked on
• Never press the Spindle Lock Button (8) when the tool is operating
• Always select the appropriate collet for the size of accessory you are using
first before fitting the accessory
• Always allow the tool to reach full speed before using
• When using the supplied sanding drums, first loosen the Phillips screw
on the drum of the sanding drum mounting accessory, then slide on a
sanding drum and then re-tighten the Phillips screw so the sanding drum
is secure in use
• A slotted blade screwdriver is on the handle of the supplied collet spanner
for fitting various discs to the mandrel in the accessory kit
• When attaching a disc to the mandrel, ensure the disc is put between the
two washers fitted to the mandrel
• The supplied cutting discs are for cutting only and must not be used for
grinding or sanding
• When using brush accessories with bristles or wire use a low-speed setting
WARNING: Never fit any attachment with a maximum speed lower than the no
load speed of the machine.
WARNING: Always be aware of the material you are working with and the risk
of creating toxic dust that you may inhale or cause a skin irritation.
Additional Accessories
A wide range of craft tool accessories are available from your Silverline
stockist for this product.
Maintenance
WARNING: Always disconnect from power supply before carrying out any
maintenance/cleaning.
Cleaning
• Keep your tool clean at all times. Dirt and dust will cause internal parts
to wear quickly, and shorten the machine's service life. Clean the body of
your machine with a soft brush, or dry cloth. If available, use clean, dry,
compressed air to blow through the ventilation holes
Disposal
This tool has an internal Li-Ion rechargeable battery. Discharge and remove
from the tool before disposal if Li-Ion batteries are recycled or require separate
disposal in your country or region.
Always adhere to national regulations when disposing of power tools that are
no longer functional and are not viable for repair.
• Do not dispose of power tools, or other waste electrical and electronic
equipment (WEEE), with household waste
• Contact your local waste disposal authority for information on the correct
way to dispose of power tools
