Filtering (C-J12)
If the jumper is on 1-2 (filtering with anti-collision mode), the reader emits the identifier code present in the field only once for a time defined in order (6, 9, 12 or
15 seconds – default 6 s).
If the jumper is on 2-3 (burst mode), the reader emits the same code approximately every 200 ms.
The interface board stores four tags per antenna. If the number of tags is higher, the filter will not work correctly.
End-of-line resistor (B-J13)
Use it (on RS485 connections) when the data cable is 100 meters or more long, and the communication is degraded (polluted signals, frame errors etc.).
IN channel (E-J6)
If J6 is on 2-3, the reader will activate the RF field only if there is a 0 Vdc on the IN input (activation when the 0 Vdc is present + additional x seconds,
configurable with Ultrys, after the status change on the IN input, default x = 5 s).
If J6 is on 1-2, the RF field will be continuously activated.
Buzzer (D-J5)
The buzzer is activated when the reader reads a tag. To turn it off, set the switch J5, located close to the buzzer, to position 2-3.
Choice of communication (A, J11)
It is possible to set the reader output to different formats (TTL, RS232, RS485 or OFF). To do this, place the two jumpers on the number corresponding to the
output format (1: TTL, 2: RS232, 3: RS485 and 4: OFF) and present the configuration tag created with the Ultrys software in front of the reader on initialization.
Note: for Ethernet versions, the jumper must be on the RS232 format.
The communication protocol is configurable with the Ultrys application or when the reader is ordered.
▪ TTL protocols (Wiegand & ISO2):
- ISO2 (Clock & Data) - Decimal (7 bytes max.)
- Wiegand 26-bit
- Wiegand with LRC - Hexadecimal (12 bytes max.) + LRC
- Wiegand without LRC - Hexadecimal (12 bytes max.)
▪ Serial protocols (RS232 & RS485): the structure of the frame can be configured with the following optional parameters (in gray).
1 byte
STX
Channel number + Tag Data*
0x02
- STX+ETX: add 0x02 (STX) and 0x03 (ETX) at the start /end of the frame
- CR/LF: Carriage Return (0x0D + 0x0A) configurable separately
- LRC: Checksum (XOR of all previous bytes except STX)
- Incoming data: decimal or hexadecimal
- ASCII: if this option is activated, the data will be sent in ASCII mode (data size will be doubled).
- Non-meaningful zero: complete the tag data with non-meaningful 0 to obtain the defined data size (Channel no. + 0 padding + tag data, etc.).
▪ Ethernet protocol: DIGICONNECT TCP-IP/RS232 (ULTRYS settings in RS232/115200)
There are other options available with the ULTRYS software: reverse reading / filtering time / baud rate / buzzer on or off / trigger and maintain relay on
detection of the tag / EPC and RSII filters.
