Strip Wrap For Super Strips and Perfectback strips you may
want to change how the strip wraps around your book. Usually
the Super Strip is centered on the book's spine, so it wraps
around the book equally on the front and on the back. The
Perfectback strip is set to wrap further around the back than the
front, but you can change this setting with EVEN WRAP so the
front and the back of the Perfectback strip wrap evenly on each
side. You can shift a strip so it wraps around more on the front
or on the back. Or, if it isn't wrapping evenly, then you can adjust
it so that it does.
In the STRIP WRAP mode, one of the options is MINIMUM
FRONT WRAP. When you select this feature only the smallest
possible amount of strip will wrap onto the front cover.
Cover Binding When adding a custom printed soft cover
to your book with Perfectback TA strips, the binder is able to
optimize the binding time and temperature depending on the
cover thickness or printing method used. (For instructions on
making Perfectback books, see page 13.) We recommend testing
sample covers before binding large numbers of documents.
NOTE: IF you wish to bind the cover's spine only, we
recommend that you first bind the document with an extra
front page and back page. Then, remove these pages before
binding the cover.
Bind Time You can increase the total bind time up to 15
extra seconds for hard-to-bind paper. You can also decrease the
default bind time by 5 seconds when required. However, unless
a certain weight or type of paper is found to be more difficult to
bind, it is not recommended to add or subtract seconds to the
bind time.
Strip End When you bind a book, the inserted end of the
strip should align with the edge of your book (that is on your
left). Let's call this end the "top" of the book. Occasionally you
may get a strip that doesn't quite reach the top of your book, or
a strip that goes a little past the top due to paper and/or strip
length variations. You can correct this by adjusting the strip's end
position in increments of .008 of an inch.
Sleep Time You can adjust the amount of idle time before
the binder will go into sleep mode. When the binder is in sleep
mode, the power is cut off to certain electronic components.
The factory default setting is 15 minutes. The choices are Off, 15,
30, 60 and 120 minutes. When the binder is in Sleep Mode, push
any button to wake the machine up. As noted on the display, the
yellow button now allows a very special "Wake Up!" command.
