HEALTH AND SAFETY

This concerns the hazards, which may be encountered
when installing and maintaining this equipment.
therefore important that these instructions are followed.
1.1 Before installation
Ensure that:
a) The voltage, working fluid and the maximum
working pressure stated on the product
nameplate are suitable for the working
environment.
b) The proposed method of mounting is adequate to
support the total operational weight of the unit.
'Dry Weights' are given in table
1.2 During installation and maintenance
Ensure that:
a) The unit is installed and maintained by qualified
personnel only.
b) The electrical supply is isolated and secured from
accidental reconnection.
c) The working area is adequately ventilated.
2.
INSTALLATION
2.1 General
Upon receipt, the units should be visually inspected and
the supplier notified (within seven days) of any damage
or shortages. Units are not portable and are only for per-
manent installation. The units are designed for ceiling and
wall mounting using the key slots provided in the black
plate. For wall mounted units the wall mounted drainpan
is required. Knock-outs in the side of the unit give access
for the connection of services.
The installation of the cooler should be carefully selected
to ensure that:
a) Air distribution from the cooler is not adversely
affected by obstructions and is appropriate for the
size and shape of the room, optimum air distribution
should be targeted. Product loading must be in
accordance with good refrigeration practice.
b) Air entering the cooler is not obstructed
c) The unit must be installed level in both directions
d) Maintenance access should be considered when
locating the product, including adequate space for
heater withdrawal when appropriate
e) the unit is not subjected to physical loads
2.2 Handling
Care must be taken while removing the packaging and
installing to prevent damage, particularly of the finned
coil.
2.3 Drain Connection
Drain connections are supplied loose and the fan plate
must be lowered (ceilling mounting) before fitting can
take place. Fit the drain connection using the gasket
supplied. Ensure that drainline size is equivalent to that of
the drain connection and that it has an adequate fall.
The nylon drain connection should be hand tightened
It is
when connected to the drain.
It is recommended that the drainline includes a trap, fitted
outside the coldroom.
2.4 Wall Mounting
For wall mounted units an additional drainpan needs to
be fixed to the cooler ( a kit is available separately). This is
achieved by removing the panel fixing screws around three
sides of the air-off face, offering up the vertical drainpan
and replacing the screws through the holes in the drainpan,
securing it in place. The blanking piece provided should be
fitted in the original drain position. If defrost is required on
wall mounted units, refer to fitting instructions below.
2.5 Refrigeration Pipework
Pipework to and from the cooler should be selected to suit
the application and not the connection size of the cooler.
(metric/imperial adaptors are supplied). The pipework must
be supported independently from the unit and installation
should be to a high standard of
by a competent engineer.
TEV Selection
It is important that the TEV is correctly sized, and for
optimum refrigerant distribution, located as close to the
distributor as possible. The TEC design should be deter-
mined using the maximum design capacity and minimum
valve pressure drop. This occurs at the minimum condens-
ing pressure.
On models TEC1, TEC2 and TEC3 an internally equalised
TEV may be used. On units TEC3.5 to TEC8 an externally
equalised TEV must be used and an allowance of 1 bar for
R134A and 1.5 bar for R404A, R407C, R410A and R507A
should be made for the pressure drop across the distribu-
tion system.
Evacuation
To avoid potential moisture related problems, it is necessary
to evacuate the complete system to a minimum of 1 torr
(1.3mbar). All parts of the system must be above freezing
and ideally higher than +10°C during evacuation.
Electrical
Fansets are single phase EC and factory wired to a junction
box, located behind the fan plate / drain pan. Access is
gained by removing the fan plates fixing screws and allow-
ing it to hinge down.
All motors have internal overload protection. Single and
two fan unit's use screw type terminal block for motor
supply. Three fan models use 'cage clamp' type terminals
which are opened pushing a correctly sized screw driver
into the square aperture adjacent to the conductor entry.
