Using the 1.7 L Automatic Kettle
Before First Use: Fill kettle to maximum capacity, bring to a
boil, then manually shut off the kettle. Discard water and
repeat. Rinse out the kettle two or three times.
NOTE: Use water only in the kettle. If used for foods or
beverage such as tea or coffee, the warranty will be voided.
1. Unplug kettle before filling.
2. Fill kettle with desired amount of water. Make sure to cover
the element. The water level must be between minimum
and maximum indicator lines on the water level indicator.
WARNING: If kettle is overfilled there is a risk that boiling
water may spit out of the spout.
3. Make sure that the lid is in place and the kettle or power
base (cordless models only) is standing on a level surface.
If the lid is not in place auto shut-off will not operate.
All kettle cords must be kept away from hot surfaces.

4. For the cordless model, ensure the
kettle is correctly engaged on its
base.
5. Plug in kettle.
6. Switch to ON ( I ) position. A light
will illuminate when the kettle is
on.
7. The kettle will switch off automati-
cally when the water has boiled.
Turn the switch to OFF ( O ) manually when kettle usage
is complete. (Remember, the surface of the kettle gets
hot; take care–only grip the kettle by the handle.)
IMPORTANT: Ensure that the cordless kettle has
switched off automatically or is switched off manually
before removing it from the base.
8. Unplug kettle before pouring.
9. If you want to refill the kettle immediately, first check the
water level indicator and then, if required, run cold water
in through the spout.
10. After use, unplug the kettle and empty.
NOTE: Never leave a hot kettle unattended when there
are children about.
11. Do not hold the switch on while the kettle is boiling.
12. At the end of a boil cycle a drop of water may emerge
from vent at the base of the kettle control housing.
This is normal.
