Operation
Note
The chain brake can also be activated man-
ually in an emergency. Tilt the hand guard
towards the tip of the cutting bar.
Before starting work with the device, check that the
chain brake is in perfect working order.
Place the tool on a flat, stable surface. Make
Î
sure that the cutting bar is not in contact with the
ground.
Hold the tool firmly with both hands and switch on
Î
the saw.
Rotate your left hand forwards around the handle
Î
[B] so that the back of your hand is in contact with
the chain brake/hand guard [A], and push the
chain brake/hand guard forwards towards the tip
of the cutting bar.
3 The chain should stop immediately.
Note
If the saw does not stop immediately, turn
the power off. Do not continue to use the
device, and have it checked at a service
centre.
Note
Always release the chain brake immediately
before starting work.
Check chain lubrication
Check the quantity of oil in the tank.
Î
Start the device.
Î
Hold the chain for a reasonable period about
Î
15 cm above a suitable surface. If the chain lu-
brication is adequate, the oil sprayed off from the
saw chain leaves a light trail.
Inserting the power pack B
Incorrect handling of the power pack and
the charger

¾ Read and observe the operating instruc-
tions of the power pack and the charger.
Align the power pack [B] with the recess [C] on
Î
the tool handle.
Slide the power pack [B] into the tool until you
Î
hear it click into place and it is seated securely 1 .

¾ Always hold on to the device with both
hands during operation. The right hand
grips the handle, and the left hand grips
the bow-shaped handle I .

Remove the protective cover H .

Release the chain brake J 2 .

Hold the chainsaw in the operating position I .

Press the lockout switch K [B] and hold it in this

position 1 .
Press the on/off switch K [A] 2 .

When the machine is in use, release the lockout

button K [B] 3 .
Hold down the on/off switch to keep the device
Î
running.

To switch the device off, release the on/off

switch [A] completely.

The lockout button automatically returns to
its initial position when you release the on/
off switch.
Removing the power pack B
Press the power pack release button [A] 2 .

Remove the power pack [B] 3 .

Working with the chainsaw
Risk of injuries or material damage
¾ Make sure that you adopt a strong,
secure stance.
¾ Maintain the cutting chain away from the
body.
¾ Hold the tool firmly in both hands. The
right hand envelopes the handle, the
other covers the bow-shaped handle.
¾ Never stand directly under the branch
being cut.
¾ Never stand on a ladder or an unstable
platform.
¾ Always cut branches into pieces.
¾ Never work in dangerous positions in
which you could be hit by falling branch-
es or by branches bouncing back up
from the ground.
¾ Do not saw any wood that is under
strain.
¾ Do not saw any shrubs or bushes.
