Dust/Chip Extraction

Dusts from materials such as lead-containing
coatings, some wood types, minerals and
metal can be harmful to one's health. Touch-
ing or breathing-in the dusts can cause aller-
gic reactions and/or lead to respiratory infec-
tions of the user or bystanders.
Certain dusts, such as oak or beech dust, are
considered as carcinogenic, especially in con-
nection with wood-treatment additives (chro-
mate, wood preservative). Materials contain-
ing asbestos may only be worked by
specialists.
– Use dust extraction whenever possible.
– Provide for good ventilation of the working
place.
– It is recommended to wear a P2 filter-class
respirator.
Observe the relevant regulations in your coun-
try for the materials to be worked.
External Dust Extraction (see figure A)
Slide the extraction adapter 12 onto the outlet
piece 11. Ensure that the latching levers of the
extraction adapter engage. The extraction adapt-
er 12 accepts a vacuum hose with a diameter of
19 mm.
For removal of the extraction adapter 12, press
the latching levers together at the rear and pull
the extraction adapter off.
The vacuum cleaner must be suitable for the ma-
terial being worked.
When vacuuming dry dust that is especially detri-
mental to health or carcinogenic, use a special
vacuum cleaner.

Internal Dust Extraction with Dust Bag
(see figure B)
For small sanding jobs, a dust bag (accessory) 6
can be connected.
Before mounting the dust bag 6, pull out the plas-
tic slider 14. Slide the dust-bag sleeve firmly over
the extraction outlet 11. Pay attention that the
plastic slider 14 engages in the holder intended
for it on the dust bag 6.
To maintain optimum dust collection, empty the
dust bag 6 in good time.
Replacing the Sanding Sheet
When attaching a new sanding sheet, remove any
dust or debris from the sanding plate 10 (e. g.
with a brush).
To ensure optimum dust extraction, pay atten-
tion that the punched holes in the sanding sheet
match with the holes in the sanding plate.
Sanding Sheets with Velcro Backing
(see figure C)
The sanding plate 10 is fitted with Velcro backing
for quick and easy fastening of sanding sheets
with Velcro adhesion.
Before attaching the sanding sheet 15, free the
Velcro backing of the sanding plate 10 from any
debris by tapping against it in order to enable op-
timum adhesion.
Position the sanding sheet 15 flush alongside
one edge of the sanding plate 10, then lay the
sanding sheet onto the sanding plate and press it
against it with a light turning motion in clockwise
direction.
To remove the sanding sheet 15, grasp it at one
of the tips and pull it off from the sanding plate
10.
Sanding Sheets without Velcro Backing
(see figure D)
Lightly lift and unlatch the sanding-sheet clamp
9.
Guide the sanding sheet 15 under the opened
rear clamping bracket 8 to the stop and clamp
the sanding sheet by reinserting the sanding-
sheet clamp 9.
