Voice Transmission System
GB
Please read these operating instructions carefully
prior to operation and keep them for later reference.
1 Applications
In combination with one or multiple receivers ATS-
50R, the transmitter ATS-50T provides a mobile
wireless system for transmitting spoken language,
e. g. for guided tours, lectures in different languages
or wireless command transmission. For wireless
transmission, 40 channels are available in the fre-
quency range 863 – 865 MHz; up to 12 of these
channels may be used at the same time without mu-
tual interference. The transmission range depends
on local conditions and may reach 100 m as a max-
imum.
2 Important Notes
The units correspond to all relevant directives of the
EU and are therefore marked with
G
The units are suitable for indoor use only. Protect
them against dripping water and splash water,
high air humidity and heat (admissible ambient
temperature: 0 – 40 °C).
G
For cleaning only use a dry, soft cloth; never use
water or chemicals.
G
No guarantee claims for the units and no liability
for any resulting personal damage or material
damage will be accepted if the units are used for
other purposes than originally intended, if they
are not correctly connected or operated, or if they
are not repaired in an expert way.
If the units are to be put out of operation
definitively, take them to a local recycling
plant for a disposal which is not harmful to
the environment.
2.1 Conformity and approval
Herewith, MONACOR INTERNATIONAL declare
that the transmitter ATS-50T is in accordance with
the basic requirements and the other relevant re -
gulations of the directive 1999 / 5 /EC. The declara-
tion of conformity is available on request from
MONACOR INTERNATIONAL. The transmitter is
generally approved for operation in EU and EFTA
countries; it is licence-free and requires no regis-
tration.
3 Setting into Operation
3.1 Inserting / Replacing the batteries
To insert or replace the batteries, remove the cover
of the battery compartment on the rear side of the
unit. Insert a battery of size AA as indicated in the
compartment, then replace the cover. If the unit is
not in use for a longer period of time, remove the
battery to prevent damage to the unit due to battery
leakage.
Used batteries and defective rechargeable
batteries must not be placed in the house-
hold waste. To protect the environment, al-
ways take them to a special waste disposal,
e. g. collection container at your retailer.
3.2 Recharging the batteries
Instead of batteries, rechargeable NiMH batteries
can be used for the transmitter and the receiver. To
recharge the batteries, the charging case ATS-25C
is ideal. Put the receiver and the transmitter in the
charging case, including the batteries inserted.
CAUTION! If you use non-rechargeable batteries
for the units, never put them in the charging case. If
you try to recharge non-rechargeable batteries,
they may leak or even explode.
3.3 Connecting the microphone or an audio
unit and connecting the earphone
1) The transmitter (grey housing) is equipped with
.
an integrated microphone (5). It is also possible
to connect the tie-clip microphone provided to
the jack
(4); the integrated microphone will be
switched off. Use the clip to attach the micro-
phone to your clothes (e. g. tie, lapel).
When using the transmitter for wireless trans-
mission of line audio signals, connect an audio
unit (CD/ MP3 player, radio etc.) to the jack
To mute the microphone signal, press the button
(3).
2) Connect the earphone provided to the jack
of the receiver (black housing) and attach it to
your ear.
4 Operation
1) First switch on the receiver only: Keep the button
(9) pressed until the display (10) shows "On".
2) Press the button
mission channel on the receiver.
Note: Five seconds after switching on and five sec-
onds after pressing a button, the buttons will be locked
automatically: The symbol
To unlock, keep both buttons pressed until the symbol
disappears.
The LED (7) must not light up. If it lights up, in-
terference or signals from other transmitters are
received. In this case, use a different channel.
3) If multiple ATS-50 systems are used at the same
time for transmitting different kinds of information
or different languages, set a different transmis-
sion channel for each separate system. You will
be able to make 12 voice transmissions at the
same time if you use the channels that are
printed in bold in the table.
There are two channel groups for setting the
channel:
G1 with all 40 channels
G2 with the channels printed in bold only
To switch from one group to the other, press the
button
to switch off the unit (keep the button
pressed until the display shows "OF"). Keep the
buttons
and
switched on again: On the display, the number
behind the "G" starts flashing. Press the button
