3. Operating instructions
3.1. Function
By means of ultraviolet light, flying insects are lured into the effective range of the device. Attached in front of the light tube is a screen
charged with high voltage. Upon contact with this high-tension screen the insects are quickly and hygienically killed. The fallen insects are
collected in a drip pan which only has to be removed from the housing for emptying.
3.2. Unpacking
Open the packing carefully and remove all the parts. Avoid scratching the device on sharp or pointed objects. Make sure that none of the
parts, in particular the chain and the drip pan, is left in the packing. Keep the operating instructions in a safe place!
3.3. Assembly/erection
The device can be
- put in place or
- suspended on the chain which is included. Relevant for both variants: Make sure the device is not placed too close to sources of ignition,
i.e. easily combustible objects.
The device is not made for outdoor use! The device is for indoor use only!
3.3.1. The device is put in place
Make sure that the underground is even and dry and that no easily ignitable objects are in the immediate vicinity of the device. The site of
installation should likewise be beyond the reach of children. For smooth functioning it is important that the device is set up so that
insects can fly unimpeded toward the light from both sides. Other sources of light and drafts have a negative affect on the
effectiveness of the UV light.
3.3.2. The device is suspended
Choose the site with care. Other sources of light and drafts have a negative affect on the effectiveness of the UV light. Make sure that the
chains are firmly attached to the device. Install the insect killer between 1.5 und 3.0 m above the ground.
Caution: Do not hang outdoors!
3.4. Servicing/Cleaning
Switch the device off and pull the power plug before cleaning. Empty the drip pan on a regular basis. When doing this, pull it carefully
out of the housing. The pan can then be rinsed with water. Let it dry before reinserting. The protective screen, the high-voltage screen and
the UV lamps can be cleaned with a dry cloth or with a brush.
