Operating Instructions
SCART-/HDMI Converter Converter
Item No. 2139968
Intended Use
The product is used to convert an analogue SCART AV signal into an HDMI-compatible AV signal.
Furthermore, an HDMI input is available so that the converter can also be used as a switch (between the
SCART and the HDMI input).
An analogue and a digital audio output make the audio signal available separately from the AV signal. The
external wall plug transformer enclosed is used to supply the power.
For safety and approval purposes, you must not rebuild and/or modify this product. If you use the product
for purposes other than those described above, the product may be damaged. In addition, improper use
can result in short circuits, fires, electric shocks or other hazards. Read the instructions carefully and store

Safety Instructions
Read the operating instructions carefully and especially observe the safety information.
If you do not follow the safety instructions and information on proper handling in this
manual, we assume no liability for any resulting personal injury or damage to property.
Such cases will invalidate the warranty/guarantee.
The product is not a toy. Keep it out of the reach of children and pets.
Do not leave packaging material lying around carelessly. This may become dangerous playing
material for children.
Protect the product from extreme temperatures, direct sunlight, strong jolts, high humidity,
moisture, flammable gases, steam and solvents.
Do not place the product under any mechanical stress.
If it is no longer possible to operate the product safely, take it out of operation and protect it
from any accidental use. Safe operation can no longer be guaranteed if the product:
- is visibly damaged,
- is no longer working properly,
- has been stored for extended periods in poor ambient conditions or
- has been subjected to any serious transport-related stresses.
• Please handle the product carefully. Jolts, impacts or a fall even from a low height can dam-
age the product.
• Consult an expert when in doubt about the operation, safety or connection of the product.
• Maintenance, modifications and repairs must only be completed by a technician or an au-
thorised repair centre.
• If you have questions which remain unanswered by these operating instructions, contact our
technical support service or other technical personnel.
• The product is not a toy. Keep devices that operate on the mains voltage out of the reach of
children. Therefore, be especially careful when children are around.
Use the product where it is out of the reach of children.
• The product is only intended for use in dry, indoor locations. No part of the product should
become damp or wet; never handle it if your hands are wet!
• Wall plug transformers have the potential to cause a fatal electric shock!
• The design of the wall plug transformer complies with Protection Class II. Use only a standard
mains socket as the power source for the wall plug transformer.
• The mains socket into which the wall plug transformer is plugged must be easily accessible
• Only use the wall plug transformer supplied to power the SCART/HDMI converter.
• Do not pull the wall plug transformer from the mains socket by pulling on the cable. Hold it on
the sides of the casing and pull it out of the mains socket.
• If the wall plug transformer is damaged, do not touch it; there is danger to life from electric
shock!
First, switch off the mains voltage to the socket to which the wall plug transformer is con-
nected (switch off at the corresponding circuit breaker or, for example remove the safety fuse
or switch off at the corresponding RCD protective switch, so the socket is fully disconnected).
You can then unplug the wall plug transformer from the mains socket. Dispose of the faulty
wall plug transformer in an environment-friendly way, do not use it any more. Replace it by a
wall plug transformer of the same design.
4 rubber feet
Operating instructions
Getting started, connection
If needed, glue the 4 provided rubber feet to the underside of the converter.
Connect the SCART input ("SCART Input") of the converter to your playback device, e.g. a video re-
corder, using a SCART cable.
Connect the HDMI output ("HDMI Output") to the corresponding input of a television or monitor.
If all available HDMI inputs of the television/monitor are occupied, you can connect one of the devices
connected there to the HDMI input ("HDMI Input") of the converter, since this has a built-in switch (to
switch later, use the "CVBS/HD" button).
The audio signal is available at two different outputs.
- 3.5 mm stereo jack socket ("Audio"), analogue stereo audio signal, line level
- cinch socket ("Coaxial"), digital audio signal
Connect the low voltage round plug of the enclosed wall plug transformer to the corresponding socket
on the converter.
Plug the wall plug transformer into a mains socket.
Switch on all devices connected to the converter. Select the correct input on the television/monitor,
required.
You can switch between the HDMI input ("HDMI Input") and the SCART input ("SCART Input") using
the "SCART/HD" button.
The "PAL/NTSC" button is used to switch the image refresh rate at the HDMI output (PAL = 50 Hz,
NTSC = 60 Hz).
Select the resolution for the video signal at the HDMI output with the "720P/1080P" button.
Handling
Use only in dry indoor locations. The product must not get damp or wet! There is a risk of a life-threat-
ening electric shock!
Never use the product immediately after it has been taken from a cold room to a warm one. The conden-
sation that forms might damage your unit. The wall plug transformer also poses a risk for a potentially
fatal electric shock!
Allow the product to reach room temperature, before connecting it to the power supply and putting it into
use. This may take several hours.
Avoid the following adverse conditions at the installation location and during transportation:
- Damp or excess air humidity
- Cold or heat, direct sunlight
- Dust or flammable gases, fumes or solvents
- Strong vibrations, impacts or blows,
- Strong magnetic fields such as those found close to machinery or loudspeakers
Any maintenance or repair work may only be carried out by authorised personnel.
When setting up the product, make sure that the cables are neither kinked nor pinched.
Cleaning
Use a clean, dry, soft cloth for cleaning. Do not use aggressive cleaning agents as these can cause discol-
ouration. Do not press too strongly on the surface when cleaning, to prevent scratch marks.
Dust can easily be removed using a clean, long-haired brush and a vacuum cleaner.
Disposal
Electronic devices are recyclable waste and must not be disposed of in the household waste.
At the end of its service life, dispose of the product in accordance with applicable regulatory
