orientated (if present)
No water in the tank
High Limit Switch activated
Faulty element
Incorrect wiring
No / insufficient electricity supply
Faulty thermostat
Heavy calcification
Blocked ports or non return valve
Thermomixer valve set too cold
Circuit breaker has blown
No power as water heater is
activated while engine is not running
Circuit breaker tripped due to low
power or insufficient water supply
Insufficient water in the tank
Wrong breaker amperage
Faulty element
Heavy calcification in water tank
Faulty wiring
Initial use
Faulty / old valve
Water Heater left constantly on
Tank not winterized
Electric thermostatic controls faulty
Damage to tank due to improper
service
Electrolysis due to absent or faulty
galvonic isolator
No anode fitted to tank
Corrosion or damage due to tank
not winterized properly
Fittings not correctly attached
POTENTIAL SOLUTION
Ensure check valve is the correct orientation (if
present).
Fill the tank with water.
Press reset and try again. If this has no effect, contact a
local electrician to replace the switch or element.
Replace element.
Check wiring and contact a marine electrician.
Contact a marine electrician to check the electrical
supply.
Replace the thermostat (Section 13).
Flush your hot water heater. If this has no affect,
replace the heating element (section 10).
Clear the blockage.
Adjust to between 40ºC (104ºF) and 55ºC (131ºF).
Check and replace if necessary.
Recharge batteries and only use the water heater while
the engine is activated.
Fill the water tank fully and only use while engine is
running.
Bleed the system.
Check non-return valve is not blocked and fill tank to
capacity.
Check fuse rating to ensure correct amperage and
replace if necessary.
Replace element.
Flush and clean regularly.
Have a marine electrician check the electric circuit.
The T&P valve may leak on initial use until it seals itself.
Open the valve and re-run the system.
Replace the valve.
Replace valve (due to deposit build-up on valve seat)
and do not leave Water Heater constantly 'on'.
Replace valve and winterize tank in future.
Have a marine electrician check the system.
Replace Water Heater.
Replace Water Heater and install galvanic isolator.
Replace Water Heater and fit anode in drain valve fitting
Replace Water Heater and ensure it is winterized in
future.
Check all connections are water-tight.
