POWER SUPPLY REQUIREMENTS AND SETTINGS
IMPORTANT:
PLEASE READ THIS SECTION CAREFULLY BEFORE CONNECTING YOUR
POWER SUPPLY TO THE AC MAINS FOR THE FIRST TIME.
The available power supply for the VENICE 240 and 320 mixer is named EPS1200.
Description
All Venice consoles are equipped with an internal power supply. When a back-up supply or an
external power supply for any reason is needed the EPS1200 is the unit of choice. The EPS1200
takes over the supply of the console and the internal supply is free running for back-up reasons
or can be turned off by pulling the mains cable or by pushing the power on switch at the console.
In the very unusual case, that the external (EPS1200) supply fails, the internal (console) supply
can take over if powered.
The EPS1200 power supply is a conventional linear unit, which produces DC - voltages by
rectifying, smoothing and regulating AC - voltages from the secondary windings of the mains
transformer.
The unit dissipates a certain small amount of heat which should not be considered abnormal.
For safety in thermal critical enviroment, a fan is installed which is thermally controlled and
provides forced front to rear cooling if the internal heat-sink reaches the threshold temperature.
The unit is designed for installation in 19" racks, but may be operated free-standing as well.
Please refer to the section 'Recom m endations for installation'.
Indicators are provided on the front panel to show correct operation of the power supply.
In addition, the power supply unit is provided with a delayed turn-on circuit, which operates
relays on all VENICE balanced XLR outputs, preventing the outputs of the console being
operated before the power supply is at its correct operating voltages. This helps to prevent
any transients reaching amplifiers and giving turn-on 'thumps'.
