ELECTRONIC VOLTAGE DETECTOR

USAGE
Tester to detect voltage absence in HV grids and substations. Maximum voltage use: 420kV (among phases).
USE PREFERABLY WITH NON-METALLIC HEAD POLES.

Self-ignition for voltage presence.
Auto-turn off after 2 minutes without voltage presence, remaining in Stand-by mode to save battery (current
less than 1µA).
Internal self-check to test all circuits and correct battery level.
MAINTENANCE AND TRANSPORTATION
This detector does not require any specific maintenance
Store the detector in its case after each use.
Remove battery prior to lengthy storage.
In the event of malfunction, please contact SOFAMEL or the Country Distributor.
Even if it is stored, the voltage detector should be checked and calibrated by the manufacturer after a maximum
of 6 years.
SELF-CHECKING TEST
Push test button to check proper performance and battery level:
Pushing once:
The detector checks that the micro-controller, leds and buzzer are working properly, following the
sequence:
1. Red leds flicker and buzzer sounds once.
2. Green led will turn to stand-by mode.
Pushing for longer:
Generates interior voltage to check the whole circuit (HV) and the correct battery voltage, following the
sequence:
4. Green led is turned off.
5. Red leds come on and the buzzer sounds intermittently. This indicates voltage presence.
If it does not follow the previous sequence, change batteries and try again. If the problem persists,
please contact SOFAMEL for a possible repair.
Releasing the button:
The voltage detector will return to stand-by mode with the green led on.
DETECTION
IMPORTANT: BEFORE EACH USE, YOU MUST CARRY OUT SELF-CHECKING TEST SEQUENCE.
Before use the device you should check the signal in a tension point.
Place the electrode over the point to be checked:
Voltage presence:
If voltage level is equal to or higher than the voltage threshold, the green led turns off, the red leds come
on and the buzzer sounds intermittently.
Voltage absence (or below voltage threshold):
You need to repeat the performance test when the "absence of voltage" indication appears.
In the event of voltage absence, Sleep mode will automatically come on after 2 minutes.
If there is voltage, but under the voltage threshold, the green led will come on and it will remain in
Stand-by mode.
