PARTS
1. Latch
2. Handle
3. Ready light - green
4. Power light - red
5. Non-stick cooking plates
BEFORE FIRST USE
The first time you use your sandwich toaster, you may
notice a slight burning smell and a little smoke. This is
completely normal and will soon disappear.
Wipe the cooking plates with absorbent paper or a soft
damp cloth.
Clean the outside of your sandwich toaster with a soft
damp cloth. The cover can be cleaned with a soft dry
cloth.
USING YOUR SANDWICH TOASTER
1. Always fully unwind the power cord from the cord
storage area of the appliance before use. Insert the
plug into a mains supply socket. The power light and
the ready light will both illuminate..
2. When your sandwich toaster is fully heated the green
ready light will go out. This light will go on and off
during cooking.
3. Lightly brush the cooking plates with sunflower oil
or spread the OUTSIDE of the bread with butter or
a spread suitable for cooking. Don't use a low fat
spread or one which has a high water content.
4. Place the lower slice of bread onto the bottom plate
with the buttered side down. Form a hollow with
the back of a spoon and add 1-2 spoonfuls of the
prepared filling. Don't overfill the sandwich or the
filling will leak out. Add the top slice of bread buttered
side up and close the lid gently and latch it. Take care
because your sandwich toaster will be hot!
5. Allow the sandwich to toast for approximately 4-5
minutes. Leave the sandwich in the toaster for more
or less time according to taste.
6. Open the lid. Watch out for escaping steam—use a
tea towel or wear oven gloves. Remove the cooked
sandwich with a non-metallic spatula. Don't use a
metal blade as this will damage the non-stick surface
of the cooking plates.
7. Once cooked, take care when eating, as fillings,
especially fruit or tomato, can be very hot.
REMOVING/REFITTING THE PLATES
Unplug your sandwich toaster and allow it to fully cool
down before removing or refitting the plates.
Removal
1. To remove the top plate, slide the two latches
outwards and hinge the plate downwards and out of
the sandwich toaster (fig. A).
2. To remove the bottom plate, slide the two latches
outwards and lift the bottom plate out of the sandwich
toaster (fig. B).
Refitting
1. To refit the top plates, position the two lugs on the top
plate into the two recesses near to the hinge. Swing
the plate upwards until both latches click into place
(fig C).
2. To refit the bottom plate, position the two lugs on the
bottom plate into the two recesses near to the hinge.
Swing the plate downwards until both latches click
into place (fig. D).
CARE AND CLEANING
• Switch off and unplug the unit from the mains supply.
• Allow the unit to cool slightly. It is easier to clean when
slightly warm.
• Wipe the cooking plates with a soft cloth. If cooked
on food remains, reheat the unit for 1-2 minutes, then
brush with a little oil or melted butter. Allow to stand
for five minutes then wipe with a damp cloth.
• The plates can be cleaned in a dishwasher.
• To clean the outside of the unit wipe over with a damp
cloth. Polish with a soft dry cloth.
To avoid damaging the non-stick coating on the cooking
plates, do not use harsh or abrasive cleaning materials.
