5. Preheat the Grill/Griddle. Use the handle to close the Grill/Griddle. Check to make sure that the cord does
not come in contact with any exterior parts of the unit. Plug the unit into a 120V AC electrical outlet.
The red POWER light will illuminate and remain lighted during use.
CAUTION: NEVER plug unit in without both upper and lower cooking plates
properly installed.
CAUTION: To avoid personal injury or damage to property, always check to make sure removable drip tray
is in position under the grease drain in the center of the open plates before use.
6. Turn the temperature control dial to the desired heat setting:
NOTE: When the Grill/Griddle is heated for the first time, it may emit slight smoke or odor. This is normal
and should disappear after 1 or 2 uses. This does not affect the safety of the appliance.
7. Allow the unit to preheat in the closed position. While preheating, prepare food to be cooked.
8. After approximately 5 to 9 minutes, the green READY light will illuminate, indicating the unit has reached
preheat temperature and is ready for use.
NOTE: Please see the Basic Cooking Chart for suggested cooking
temperatures and times.

To Use as a Panini Press (Closed Position)

Panini is a popular sandwich, traditionally made with fresh Italian bread, stuffed with meats, vegetables and
cheese, then pressed and grilled.
It is suggested that foods such as panini, grilled cheese, quesadillas or wraps be cooked on 350°F to 400°F
and checked in 4 to 5 minutes, depending on the thickness and contents.
When grilling breads, meats, vegetables and fruits, times may be shorter than expected as heat cooks
from both upper and lower cooking plates. Watch carefully to avoid over cooking.
When cooking foods with high fat content, use the tilt-up feet to raise the Grill/Griddle's front 2 legs.
NOTE: Please see the Basic Cooking Chart for suggested cooking temperatures and times.
1. Preheat the Grill/Griddle as described in the Operating Instructions.
2. Turn the temperature control dial to adjust the heat. Generally, use 350°F to 400°F to make perfect
pressed, grilled panini.
IMPORTANT: When cooking a combination of foods, prepare so that the thickness of all food is consistent.
This will allow food to cook quickly, evenly and produce rich grill marks.
3. For best results, wearing a protective oven mitt, use a brush or paper towel to lightly coat the cooking
surfaces with solid vegetable shortening, butter, or vegetable oil.
NOTE: DO NOT USE NON-STICK SPRAYS AS THEY CAN CAUSE BUILD-UP ON THE COOKING PLATES.
USE OLIVE OIL INSTEAD.
WARNING: DO NOT USE NON-FAT SPREADS. THEY MAY BURN AND DAMAGE THE NON-STICK
COOKING PLATES.
4. Center food on the bottom cooking plate.
IMPORTANT: Never overcrowd the cooking plate.
5. Pull the handle down gently. The floating hinge will allow the top plate to lie evenly on top of the food.
6. During cooking, the green READY light will cycle on and off as the Grill/Griddle maintains the proper
cooking temperature. The temperature can be adjusted at any time by turning the temperature control
dial to the desired setting.
7. Remove grilled food from the cooking plate(s) using a non-metallic utensil. A plastic spatula will help to
remove delicate food in one piece. Non-scratching tongs are helpful when grilling meats or sausages.
WARNING: The Grill/Griddle becomes very hot. Avoid touching the top or sides of the cooking plates
after heating.
WARNING: Never use a sharp or metal object as it may damage the non-stick surface of the griddle or
grill plates.
CAUTION: Do not leave appliance unattended during use!
8. When food is finished cooking, turn the temperature control dial to 200°F. Remove the plug from the
wall outlet
WARNING! ALWAYS UNPLUG UNIT WHEN COOKING IS FINISHED. OTHERWISE, THE GRILL/GRIDDLE
WILL CONTINUE TO HEAT UNTIL UNIT IS UNPLUGGED.
