INTENDED USE
The digital oscilloscope is intended to be used for visualising electrical magnitudes and signals.
Two / four independent input channels are available for the electric measurement. The probes
are connected to the oscilloscope via BNC connectors.
The measured signals can be stored and displayed as a reference.
The control is performed via VDU based control menus.
The maximum measuring voltage (300 V/DC/ACpk) should not be exceeded. Use divider
probes if necessary.
The device should only be connected and used with an earthed shockproof socket connected
the public alternating current grid.
Any other use than that described above, could lead to damage to this product and involves the
risk of short circuits, fire, electric shock, etc.
No part of the product should be modified or reassembled.
Do not make measurements in damp locations, outdoors or under adverse environmental
conditions. Unfavourable ambient conditions are:
•
Wet conditions or high air humidity,
•
Dust and flammable gases, vapours or solvent,
•
Thunderstorms or similar conditions such as strong electrostatic fields etc.
Always observe the safety notes included in these operating instructions.
This quick guide explains the safety measures that should be taken to make working with the
device as safe as possible. The individual functions of the device are described in more detail
in the enclosed operating manual.
SAfETy INSTRUcTIONS AND hAzARD wARNINGS
please read all of the operating instructions before using the product for the
first time; they contain important information about the correct operation.
•
The warranty will be void for damage arising from non-compliance with these
operating instructions! We do not assume any liability for any consequential
damage!
•
Nor do we assume any liability for material and personal damage caused by
improper use or non-compliance with the safety instructions! The warranty is
voided in these cases.
•
The unauthorised conversion and/or modification of the product is inadmissible
because of safety and approval reasons (CE).
•
The construction of the product corresponds to protection class 1. Only a properly
earthed mains socket (100 – 240 V/AC) connected to the public power supply
should be used.
•
Measuring devices and devices connected to the power supply should be kept
out of the reach of children. Therefore, be especially careful when children are
around.
•
First, connect the BNC output of the measurement cable to the oscilloscope, then
connect the probe to the electric circuit to be measured. The measuring completed,
please disconnect the measuring contacts first before disconnecting the BNC
output of the probe from the oscilloscope.
•
Take particular care when dealing with voltages exceeding 25 V/AC or 35 V/DC!
Even at such voltages you can receive a life-threatening electric shock if you come
into contact with live electric wires.
•
Prior to each measurement, check your instrument and its measuring leads for
damage. Never make any measurements if the protecting insulation is defective
(torn, missing etc.)
•
To avoid electric shock, do not to touch the connections/measuring points directly
or indirectly during measurements.
•
Never touch the probes outside of the marked handling area during a measurement.
There is danger of a life-threatening electric shock.
•
Do not use the device shortly before or after a thunderstorm (lightning! / high-
energy overvoltages!). Make sure that your hands, shoes, clothing, the floor, the
measuring device and/or measuring lines, the circuits and its parts are always dry.
•
Do not use the product inside of rooms, or in poor ambient conditions, where
flammable gases, vapours or explosive dust may be present or are present!
•
Do not operate the device near to:
-
strong magnetic or electromagnetic fields or
VERSION 08/11
-
transmitting aerials or HF generators.
These can affect the measurement.
•
Only use measuring cables, or equipment, appropriate for the oscilloscope's
specifications when making measurements.
•
If you have reason to assume that safe operation is no longer possible, disconnect
the device immediately and secure it against inadvertent operation. It can be
assumed that safe operation is no longer possible if:
-
the device is visibly damaged,
-
the device no longer works and
-
the unit was stored under unfavourable conditions for a long period of time or
-
it has been subjected to considerable stress in transit.
•
Never switch the device on immediately after having taken it from a cold in to a
warm environment. The condensation that forms could cause serious damage to
the device. Allow the device to reach room temperature before switching it on.
•
Never disassemble the product! There is a risk of a lethal electric shock!
•
Do not leave packing materials unattended. They may become dangerous
playthings for children.
•
The product is only suited for dry indoor locations (not bathrooms or similar damp
interiors). The device must not get wet or damp. There is a risk of a lethal electric
shock!
•
In commercial institutions, the accident prevention regulations of the Employer's
Liability Insurance Association for Electrical Systems and Operating Materials are
to be observed.
•
If you have doubts about how the equipment should be operated or how to safely
connect it, consult a trained technician.
•
Handle the product with care. It can be damaged through impact, blows, or
accidental drops, even from a low height.
•
Please also note the enclosed detailed operating instructions.
This device left the manufacture's factory in a safe and perfect condition. We kindly request
the user to observe the safety instructions and warnings contained in the enclosed operating
instructions so this condition is maintained and to ensure safe operation. Please pay attention
to the following symbols:
A triangle containing an exclamation mark, in these operating instructions,
indicates important information that has to be observed without fail.
A triangle containing a lightning symbol indicates a danger for an electric shock or
for the impairment of the electrical safety of the device.
The "arrow" symbol is used to indicate where specific hints and information on
handling are given.
This product has been CE tested and meets the necessary European guidelines.
Warning! This is a class A device. It can cause radio interferences in residential
areas; in this case, it can be demanded that the operator carries out appropriate
measures.
cAT II
Voltage surge category II, for measurements on electric devices connected to the
mains supply by a power plug.
Earthed connector, protection class 1. This screw/connector must not be
loosened.
Earth potential
Reference earth chassis
Regularly check the technical safety of the instrument and measuring cables,
e.g. check for damage to the housing or crimping etc.
Never operate the device when it is open! !RISk Of fATAL INJURy!
Do not exceed the maximum permitted input values. Never touch circuits or
parts of circuits with voltages greater than 25 V/Ac rms or 35 V/Dc! Risk of
fatal injury!
UNpAckING
