3.8 TROUBLESHOOTING
Problem
The instrument doesn't work.
Indications disappear .
Flashing of one or both
graduated bars.
The graduated bar reaches
the end of the scale before the
instrument is placed on the
surface to be sounded.
There are no graphic and
acoustic alarms.

Cause
1. Instrument turned off.
2. Batteries not correctly
inserted.
3. Batteries exhausted.
4. Microprocessor stuck.
1. Indications on the display
disappear after
approximately 7 minutes of
inactivity.
1. Signals for metal and/or
electric field are too
strong.
1. The surface is made of
reinforced concrete
2. The instrument is
positioned on a part of the
surface where mass of
metal or an electric line is
present under trace.
1. Thresholds are set at the
higher part of the
graduated bars.

Solution
1. Press the ON/OFF key.
2. Reinsert batteries correctly.
3. Replace batteries.
4. Reset the microprocessor
removing temporarily the
batteries and reinserting
them.
1. Press the ON/OFF key to
turn on the instrument
again.
1. Withdraw from metal or
operating appliances
present on the site, then
press the RESET key.
1. Go near the surface little
by little, pressing the
RESET key every time that
segment 15 in the
graduated bar for metal
detection turns on.
2. Move to the right or left of
the zone and check the
reduction in the signal.
Place the instrument on the
surface getting slowly
nearer the area to be
sounded and follow the
instruction set forth at point
1.
1. Press the "-" key to reduce
the alarm threshold.
