1 INFORMATION ON THIS DOCUMENT
1.1 Function
These operating instructions provide information on installation, connection and safe use for
the following articles: AN T•••••••.
1.2 Target audience
The operations described in these operating instructions must be carried out by qualified
personnel only, who are fully capable of understanding them, and with the technical
qualifications required for operating the machines and plants in which the safety devices are
to be installed.
1.3 Application field
These operating instructions apply exclusively to the products listed in paragraph Function,
and their accessories.
1.4 Original instructions
The Italian language version is the original set of instructions for the device. Versions provided
in other languages are translations of the original instructions.
2 SYMBOLS USED
This symbol indicates any relevant additional information.
Attention: Any failure to observe this warning note can cause damage or malfunction,
including possible loss of the safety function.
3 DESCRIPTION
3.1 Device description
The safety handles referred to in these operating instructions are devices designed and
manufactured for installation on safety doors or perimeter guards, in machinery or industrial
plants where access to hazardous areas must be controlled.
The handles can only be used in conjunction with the Pizzato Elettrica ST series RFID safety
sensors (articles ST D••••••, ST G•••••• and ST H••••••). The RFID safety sensor performs the
guard interlocking function.
The handle alone cannot execute guard interlocking functions. Any electrical devices
integrated within the device are solely responsible for command and signalling functions.
The handle can be installed without coupling it to an RFID safety sensor; in this case,
the device must be used only as a simple handle for opening or closing the guard, with no
interlocking safety function.
3.2 Intended use of the device
- The device described in these operating instructions is designed to be applied on industrial
machines for state monitoring of movable guards.
- The direct sale of this device to the public is prohibited. Installation and use must be carried
out by qualified personnel only.
- The use of the device for purposes other than those specified in these operating instructions
is prohibited.
- Any use other than as expressly specified in these operating instructions shall be considered
unintended by the manufacturer.
- Also considered unintended use:
a) using the device after having made structural, technical, or electrical modifications to it;
b) using the product in a field of application other than as described in paragraph TECHnICal
DATA.
4 INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
Attention: Installing a protective device is not sufficient to ensure operator safety or
compliance with machine safety standards or directives. Before installing a protective device,
perform a specific risk analysis in accordance with the key health and safety requirements in
the Machinery Directive. The manufacturer guarantees only the safe functioning of the product
to which these operating instructions refer, and not the functional safety of the entire machine
or entire plant.
Please see the operating instructions for ST series safety devices for the applicable
installation instructions.
4.1 Fixing of the RFID tag
Before the handle is installed on the guard, the RFID tag housing block (A) must be oriented
in such a way that the RFID tag (B) faces the side of the handle where the safety sensor will
be located. The handle is constructed so as to allow for three different orientations of the RFID
tag housing block with 90° rotations.

After selecting the orientation of the RFID tag housing block, insert it into the
appropriate position inside the handle and secure it with the four (4) screws supplied.
The tightening torque of the four screws should be between 0.8 and 1.2 Nm
Attention: For the device to function correctly, the arrow (
tag housing block must be aligned with the centering symbol (
the interior of the safety sensor.
4.2 Selection of the actuator type
Attention: The device is available with two types of RFID tag: with a high (articles
an T••••••1) or low (articles an T••••••0) level of coding.
Attention: If the tag of the chosen device has a low level of coding, any other
devices having tags with low level coding that are present in the same place where the
device has been installed must be segregated and kept under strict control in order
to avoid any bypassing of the safety device. If new low level coded tags are fitted, the
original low level coded tags must be disposed of or rendered inoperable.
It is advisable to use high coding level tags to make the installation safer and
more flexible.
4.3 Mounting position
Depending on the type of application required, the handle can be installed either
horizontally or vertically.
The same article can be used on doors that open either to the right or to the left after
having appropriately oriented the RFID tag on the inside (see paragraph on FIxING
THE RFID TaG).
The safety handle is suitable for installation on metal profiles with widths
of greater than or equal to 40 mm. For the operation of the RFID sensor with the
operating and release distances indicated in the ACTUATION DATA paragraph, the
sensor and handle must be aligned on the fixing surface (see image).
