4.3 Connecting headphones

The jack CHARGER & EARPHONE (2) allows con-
nection of stereo headphones or earphones with a
3.5 mm plug. In this case, the buzzer (7) will be
switched off. By using headphones during operation of
the unit, you will be able to concentrate better on the
search. Besides, the battery will last longer as the
headphones require a lower output power. In this
case, the vibration alarm should be switched off
[switch (8) in position AUDIO], as it will have the
highest power consumption.
5 Searching Metal Objects
Prior to using the unit for searching concealed metal
objects, make yourself thoroughly familiar with the
unit. Test it with various familiar objects of different size
and of different metals and observe the unit's re-
sponse to them.
1) Set the switch (8) to position AUDIO or VIBRA-
TION. The LED (1) will shortly light up and a short
audio signal will sound or the handle (5) will shortly
vibrate. If this does not happen or if the signal does
not stop, the battery may be dead or the recharge-
able battery may be discharged. In this case, re-
place the battery/charge the rechargeable battery.
2) Seize the handle of the metal detector. Scan the
object or person to be searched with the detector
while always keeping the upper flat part of the
detector parallel and close to the surface or body.
If a metal object is detected, the detector will
give a signal. The signal will be short with small
metal objects and longer with larger objects. The
signal consists of the visual LED indication (1) and,
depending on the position of the switch (8), of an
audio signal of high volume (position AUDIO) or of
the vibration of the handle (position VIBRATION).
With headphones or earphones connected to
the jack (2), an audio signal will sound via them. In
this case, the buzzer (7) is switched off; with the
switch in position VIBRATION, the handle will
vibrate in addition.
3) To switch off the unit, set the switch (8) to OFF.
5.1 Reducing the sensitivity temporarily
If the detector already gives a signal because the envi-
ronment contains metal components (e. g. when
searching close to the ground) or if only larger metal
objects are to be detected, the sensitivity may be re-
duced temporarily. For this purpose, press the button
DESENSITIZE (3). As long as the button is pressed,
the sensitivity will be reduced by approx. 50 %.

5.2 Adjusting the sensitivity

The sensitivity of the detector is preset for normal op-
eration. If the detector is too sensitive or too insensi-
tive for a particular application, readjust its sensitivity.
1) Fold back the rubber sheath covering the handle
2) Use a small screwdriver to turn the potentiometer
3) Pull up the rubber sheath covering the handle to
Notes:
– After switching on, always perform a short test (e. g.
– After operation, always switch off the unit to prevent
