Eucalyptus wood makes a perfect material for outdoor furniture as it is extremely dense,
rot-, decay- and insect-resistant, additionally, thanks to its high oil content, it repels water
and moisture. If untreated, its surface colour might take an unaesthetic, greyish tone
which can be prevented with staining.
To prolong the longevity of the furniture, please remember to wipe it with a cloth after a
rain shower. The furniture should also be stored inside during the autumn and winter
seasons yet stay uncovered to prevent moisture accumulation on the surface. Before use,
it is advised to clean the furniture with a mild, neutral detergent with the use of a
non-metal, soft bristle brush, then apply a light coat of oil. You should avoid any
high-pressure cleaners. Please keep in mind that UV rays naturally alter the hue of the
wood as well as its finish.
Your furniture will fade naturally after a few months. To restore its original, honey-like
colour, it is advised to apply an oil finish by following the steps below:
● Prepare the product. It is crucial that the furniture is sandpapered with a medium
grain sanding paper to remove the finish, stains and changes brought about with
time. Smooth out the surface with fine sandpaper, and finally dust properly with a
supple brush or a cloth
● You should always test the product of your choice first. Test it on a hidden
surface and follow the instructions. Let it dry for a few hours and check the reaction
before proceeding. Then apply the oil to the entire surface.
● Apply a fine coat of the oil with the use of a lint-free cloth. Avoid sunlight to ensure
even penetration.
● Repeat 2 times per season.
