Using the helmet
The SCHUBERTH F 220 fire helmet is available in one helmet shell size and is
approved for a head size of 53 cm to 62 cm.
Size adjustment
The helmet can be adjusted to the respective head
size by sliding the two ends of the head support
ring (A) and locking the studs (B) firmly into the
appropriate holes (C). When required, for example
when wearing a balaclava under the helmet, the
quick-adjustment option allows you to create more
space (see also "Using the helmet with a full-face
mask with harness").
Note: The F 220 can be optionally equipped with a
screw cap. Detailed information can be found in the
assembly instructions that come with the screw cap.
Adjusting the wearing height
The inner netting (affecting helmet height!) can be adjusted
by sliding the two rear net retainers. Having been released
from the guide buckles (E), the net retainer (D) can then be
set to the required wearing height and fastened accordingly
by buttoning into the holes of the guide buckles (E). Please
make sure the studs are firmly pressed into place.
Adjusting the chin-neck strap
Opening and closing the chinstrap is made easy by the quick-release button
fastener on it. Grip the helmet with both hands by the chin-neck strap, then pull
the helmet over your head from the front and close the chin strap by means of the
quick-release button fastener. The neck strap must fit firmly under the ears and
around the back of your head. The length of the neck straps can be adjusted by

means of the buckle. Ensure the chinstrap fits flush under your chin. If necessary,
the length of the chinstrap can be adjusted and fixed in place at the Velcro
mechanism.
EN 443:2008 on the retaining system if the chinstrap supplied by the
manufacturer is worn and adjusted according to the provisions.
Operating the visor
When raised and locked in place, the visor of the F 220 protrudes slightly from
C
the helmet shell. This makes it easy to hinge it down again, even with protective
or work gloves.
A
By applying appropriate pressure to the lower edge of the visor, the visor can
then be raised again and retracted into the helmet shell. The helmet's visor
B
A
mechanism ensures the visor locks firmly into each end position. The visor must
be properly mounted on the helmet.
Use of the helmet in combination with a mask
The SCHUBERTH F 220 is designed for use with a respirator mask. A respirator
mask can be attached to the helmet by fully inserting the connectors at the sides
into the mask locks located on the left and right sides of the helmet. The mask can
E
be removed again by pressing the external buttons to open the mask locks and at
the same time pulling it gently towards the rear by means of the laterally mounted
mask straps (locking function). For further details and instructions on fitting a
mask as well as correct handling and
D
operation thereof, please refer to the
respective manufacturer's user manual.
