1. Power source check
Ensure that the power source to be utilized conforms to the power requirements specified on the product
nameplate.
2. Switch status check
Ensure that the power switch is in the OFF position. If the plug is connected to a power receptacle while the
power switch is in the ON position, the power tool will start operating immediately, which could cause a serious
accident.
3. Extension cord
When the work area is removed from the power source, use an extension cord of sufficient thickness and rated
capacity. The extension cord should be kept as short as practicable.
4. Electrical safety
The electric motor has been designed for one voltage only. Always check that the power supply corresponds to
the voltage on the rating plate.
This machine protection is class I: it must be grounded. In the event of a malfunction or breakdown, Earth
grounding provides a path of least resistance for electric current to reduce the risk of electric shock. This tool is
equipped with an electric cord having an equipment-grounding conductor and a grounding plug. The plug must
be plugged into a matching outlet that is properly installed and grounded in accordance with all local codes and
ordinances.
8.1 Switching On and Off (Fig 7)
CAUTION:
Always make sure that the workpiece is not in contact with the belt or the disc before switching ON the
machine. Failure to heed this warning may cause the workpiece to be kicked back toward the operator and result
in serious personal injury.
The On/Off switch (5) is located on the right side of the machine for quick, easy and safe access.
- Press the green button marked (I) to turn the machine ON.
- Press the red button marked (O) to turn the machine OFF.
8.2 Adjusting the sanding belt tracking (Fig 7)
Check the sanding belt tracking before using the machine, and adjust if necessary.
- Turn the switch ON.
If the belt tends to slide off the idler or drive drum, the belt is not tracking properly:
- If the sanding belt moves toward the disc, turn the tracking knob (3) up.
- If the sanding belt moves away from the disc, turn the tracking knob (3) down.
- Turn the switch OFF.
8.3 Sanding with the disc (Fig 8 to 10)
Always use the sanding disc to sand outside curved edges.
Use the miter gauge (7) for sanding small end surfaces.
- Hold the workpiece firmly, keeping fingers away from the sanding disc.
- Bring carefully the workpiece in contact with the sanding disc.
- Keep the workpiece pressed firmly against the sanding disc and move the workpiece across the sanding disc
from the left side toward the center.
Do not over-press the workpiece in order to avoid overloading! Press with proper pressure for better sanding
effects.
NOTE:
Always move the workpiece across the sanding disc from the left side toward the center.
CAUTION:
NEVER apply the workpiece to the right side of the sanding disc. It could cause the workpiece to kickback
and/or loss of control, and could result in serious personal injury.
